I have to quailfy this revirew by saying this was my first time to the Birchmere. Many of my friends frequented this place when I was younger and raved. Were can you go and get, drinks, meal and up close enteratinment these days. The ticklets were reasonable, the seating, although dinner style was comfortable. Even if there were'nt drinks, conversation, seeing you favorite artist up close makes you easily forget about any chair discomfort. Levels of volume and accuracy of sound spot on for this concert. Waited too long to see Michael Franks. Great show, fabulous musicians and backup vocalist. And Mike; came across like the first day I heard him many years ago. Yes we're getting older, but his talent is evergreen. He is very gracious and shares his musicians with the audience letting them showcase their talent. They were impressive. After the show, we waited a lilttle and got to meet him, talk and get an autograph. No rush, no overpowering crowds, no cat calls from the audience, just sit back, take it in, enjoy and aplaud your masters. I can see why Michael would choose The Birchmere. If you are in within three hours, it's worth the drive, especially if you want to see the greats without big screen monitors , thousands of people and poor acoustics. I'll be there again, sooner than later.
