He's still got it, that's for sure! It was amazing how he still sounds as good if not better than 40 years ago. And still looks great! What an awsome band too! He's surrounded himself with very talented musicians that really rocked the house. One guy (gotta get his name) played about 5 different instruments and each of them flawlessly!
The only problem was it seemed to be over too soon. I thought they were taking an intermission, but it was almost over. Two hours flew by in a rockin' blur!

Wanting to see Steve Winwood live for a long time, just did not work out. Finally went to Majestic Theatre (beautiful theatre) and caught him live. The concert was well worth waiting for. My wife was so impressed by the music variety from five musicians. One of our best couple trips in 2012. Oh yes, the soveniers were priced reasonable, t shirts and cds.

It was great to hear Steve open with "I'm a Man" and close with "Gimme Some Lovin". He played some of his best songs from Spencer Davis to Traffic to Blind Faith and his solo career (including a couple of new tunes). At two hours long I could have stayed another two to hear more from him. Although he covered some of his best I still longed to hear more from "John Barleycorn Must Die" and his Traffic songs with Dave Mason. Still he put on a stunning show that showcased his keyboard wizardry as well as his chops on guitar and mandolin. I would go see this show again (and would have in Tulsa but I had tickets for Willie Nelson the same night at the Winstar).

Steve Winwood was super!!!! The set of songs and pace of the show was great. I last saw him when he was in Houston with Eric Clapton and I hoped to see him again. I was not disappointed. Vintage to current songs were all well done. The band was tight and they knew their stuff. I sang some of the songs when I woke up the next morning. He is an icon and he is amazing in concert.

Saw Winwood in Houston at the Bayou Music Center. great venue as it holds about 3000 people. Show was not sold out but it should have been. He covered his entire history with songs from Blind Faith, Traffic, Spencer Davis Group, and of course his solo career. Encore with Give Me Some Lovin, Great show will definitely go again if I get the opportunity

Opening act(s): I'm not sure of the opening act's name. He mumbled whenever he talked. He was constantly saying funny things I think. We couldn't understand much of what he said. His singing and guitar playing were poor. @

Maybe I was shivering too much from the cold but I don't think he did a couple of this best songs "Roll With It" and "Don't You Know What the Night Can Do". His vocals were a little overwhelmed by the music. The instrumental part of all of the songs went on toooooo long.

Steve Winwood was amazing and he was accompanied by an outstanding band - drums, bongos, guy w/ the funky neck guitar (what was that ? it looked broken but he was amazing) and the utility performer - horns, piano, percussion - also terrific ! The set list spanned his full career and included Spencer Davis hits from way back, some fabulous Traffic, Blind Faith, and his solo years. "Can't Find My Way Home", one of the the Blind Faith signature songs, and the 3 from Traffic - "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys", "Empty Pages" and the encore "Dear Mr. Fantasy" were my favorites and the crowd seemed to agree. For the final encore he went back to Spencer Davis days with "Gimme Some Lovin". He also opened the show with a Spencer Davis hit, "I'm a Man". Incredible show ! I saw Traffic perform nearly 40 yrs ago at the Sam Houston Coliseum on nearly the same spot that the Bayou Place theater now sits. Amazing to see Steve Winwood and get to hear him play from his rich archive of music and sound so great ! Just wish we'd heard from Arc of a Diver, perhaps the title song or "While you See a Chance" - too bad these didn't make the setlist cut. Oh, well, I'll catch him again soon - can't wait !

Steve Winwood delivered much of the classic songs that have been an inspiration to music generations to follow. He has got soul and roots that are undeniable. I was fortunate to see him play at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio and hope to see him again at any venue.

I am a big fan of Steve Winwood, so let me just say that I have hundreds of concerts under my belt, and as a musician have a more critical ear than most. Steve is one of the few acts I havent seen in person yet, so it was a must for me. I am more of a fan of his vintage songs with Traffic and before, than his solo work. I REALLY didnt like that I had to sit through an opening act as we rushed through dinner to make it on time only to endure a guitar playing solo act for 30 minutes. Its not that he was bad, but he was one of those acts that every song sounds like the one before, so it gets old quick, and it did.

Then Steve and his supporting group came out without any que from the theatre for people to take their seats, so I missed most of his first two songs waiting for people to walk by me and take their seats. The main complaint I have for the show was a horrible feedback sound limiting the guitar and synth of both Steve and his backup guitar player. it was a constant low drone that just wore me out. I didnt stay for the whole show because of this, but I like Steve, and maybe they didnt notice the problem, but it made it uncomfortable for me to listen to.

Still rocking after all these years

My seat collapsed during the performance, but the ushers got us to a better seat almost immediately. When you are holding a metal piece of chair you know that's not good. Still love the Majestic as a venue. @

Great backup band and he still has that voice. Amazing that he can still sound like he did. Really enjoyed the whole evening. The opening act was ok and could have been a little shorter, but still entertaining. Once Stevie took the stage, he had the audience in the palm of his hand. Musical talent was on display for the complete show. Really wonderful.

When you see your favorite performers from years ago you never know if they will be good or a weak version of their younger selves. Steve Winwood and band did not disappoint. Vocally and musically, he was as good or better than 25 years ago. The small venue and spare stage gave the the concert an intimate feel and the song set covered some of the best of new and old. It's hard to attend events on week nights, but this concert was definitely worth being tired at work all the next day!

From the first chords of I'm A Man to the last strains of Gimme Some Lovin', the 5 guys on stage gave 100%!! Steve's unique voice was strong as always (although the mixer never got his voice up above the music as he should have.) Whether playing the organ, guitar or mandolin, he shined, especially on the extended jams. The band he chose was the tightest I've heard in a while, each member extremely talented and allowed to show it through solos more than once during the 2 hour show. SO GLAD I went!!

I was extremely excited to have gotten good seats to this concert. I'm a big Steve Winwood fan and was really looking forward to this concert. First let me say his voice is still great and I love his music. The problem that I had with the ENTIRE concert is that they would sing the song and then the band would proceed to JAM for the next 4 to 15 minutes with little or no vocals. It was all I could do to keep from getting up and leaving.

It seems to me that they showcased the band a heck of a lot more than they did Steve Winwood. Thankfully one of my favorite songs was only followed by 4 minutes of instrumentals so I've got that going for me.

This was a terrific concert. The band was very tight and they were in a great groove. Steve's vocals sounded great and the range of material led to one high point after another. The overall sound was excellent but it usually is in The Majestic. My wife and I see a lot of shows and she didn't want to go to this one but came away saying it was in her top five ever! Great show!
