I've been a Johnny Winter fan since I was 17, so I was all jacked up about hearing him play. Too bad, because this concert was a real disappointment. At some point in a song, every soloist runs out of "things to say" and he/she needs to know when to stop and come back to the vocals or whatever should come next. Mr. Winter apparently doesn't know how to spot "the moment". His solos went on forever and became boring. If I want to hear that kind of playing, I can go to a local jam session full of 18 year olds wanking on their new guitars.
On a positive note, the Tralf is a great place for music. Clean, well organized, and the staff was friendly & professional. And, the opening act, Chris Weinholtz was quite good. Local guy, I guess. I'd definitely attend one of his gigs if I ran across him somewhere around Western NY.
