Featured Review

This show was unforgettable. With his music tonight alone, Brian showed why he is the greatest writer, composer, arranger(as attested by many of his peers) of all time. Brian may not have the voice he had in his prime, but this was all about the music. His band (all extremely talented at what they do) was superb. They helped provide a night my wife and I will never forget. God only knows how we are blessed to have Brian Wilson. I only hope he makes another appearance at the Kirby Center.

Although the complete Beach Boy 5 had an awesome 50th Anniversary Tour last year, they have split again with Mike and Bruce touring as the Beach Boys, and Brian, Al and David touring as Brian Wilson. Brian Wilson's backup band is one of the best in the business and duplicates the Beach Boy sound down to the note! As someone who has seen their numerous shows, the Brian Wilson concert is a must see for old fans and new ones! Don't miss it!

I have waited decades to see and hear Brian Wilson and he did not disappoint! Saw him at he Mountain Winery, Saratoga, He played a lot of the Beach Boys hits from the Pet Sounds album and about 5 songs from his latest masterpiece of Gerswin interpretations, which was outstanding. He's a stand alone GENIUS!

The Mountain Winery in Saratoga CA esthetically is one the best venues in the US. There are views of the entire Silicon Valley, the seats are actually big enough for a real person and there are cup holders!! The seats are tiered downwards toward the stage, so if there’s a tall person in front of you, you are out of luck.

Brian’s voice and stage presence have improved tremendously. The band members are exceptional. The harmony achieved is almost beyond description. Even if not a fan of beach music you will enjoy the concert.

wonderful, high, tight harmonies, just as BW created for the Beach Boys years ago.
the band overall was great, and it was so touching to see that BW is such a gracious, humble person. (and, most of the time he was in very good voice, as well).
he is truly a titan in the world of rock music.

Again, the Uptown Theater showed itself as one of the premiere places to see a show north of the Tehachapi's. The band was amazing. And, especially comparing his vocals on the new Gershwin songs CD, probably best to enjoy Brian via his CDs if you are looking for a top-notch musical performance. That is, his voice and personality aren't what they were in the early sixties. Everyone knows that will be the case. So, setting that aside, I would still go see him again, especially with that band in that venue.

It would be easy to think of Brian Wilson as someone from the past; someone who wrote a zillion hits in the 1960s but whose most creative days are long past. That may be the case, but his show in Napa's beautiful Uptown Theatre shows that Wilson is still a productive writer and performer. Backed by a fine band, he performed nearly every Beach Boys hit, along with five selections from his album of Gershwin interpretations. Wilson is at times stiff and seems uncomfortable on stage -- and appears to have a prompter screen in front of him in case he forgets lyrics -- but he has more presence, decades after the height of his popularity, to still present a remarkable show.

Brian Wilson, frail after a life of abuse and illness, surrounded himself with a lively band and put together an excellent two and a half hour show. First half showcased mostly early Beach Boy singles, a la California Girls and Little Deuce Coupe. Second half started with a selection of his Gershwin album, then transitioned into later Beach Boy tunes such as Sail On Sailor and Sloop John B. After more than two hours, they returned for a five song encore, then another two-song encore, finally ending with Fun, Fun, Fun. He looked tired at the end, but, heck, so was I. Loved every minute.

Well the first half of the concert was great but it just sounded like a great Beach Boys tribute band.....with Brian Wilson! Not bad at all but not what I expected.
The second half was fabulous. They played different songs and we got to really hear Brian's voice and singing talent.
We rocked and danced and cheered right till the very end, with more than one encore.
It was sad the place was only half-full though.
Tickets for everything these days are too darn expensive!

This is the first time I've seen Brian Wilson perform. I am a Beach Boys fan, and let me tell you, he is definately the heart and soul of The Beach Boys. He breaths life into the music he created. Wonderful arrangements, fantastic musicians, just an emotional experience! I no longer need to see The Beach Boys anymore (saw them in concert just two weeks earlier), just need to watch Brian and his band perform. There is magic in this man's musical talents.

Wonderful tour de force by Brian and his great band. Great set list, the usual hits and some rarer cuts. Wish they'd include more of the Gershwin songs. Wish younger fans would have seen this.

Wilson stands in history as a great musician so it was great to see him and celebrate his music but then to see that he has surrounded himself with very very talented musicians on their instruments and with their voicing......it was outrageously good.it was much more than I expected to see and hear.

The 100 mile drive to Napa in "My Little Deuce Coupe" & cost of tickets to see the multi- talented Brian Wilson & band was well worth every mile & penny. Glad I didn't have to drive all the way to "Salt Lake City" but "I Get Around". "Do You Remember" the sixties? After listening to Beach Boys music "In My Room" for over fifty years I was excited with anticipation of just hearing the old familiar tunes performed live. "Don't Worry Baby" as it turned out to be soooo much more and it was "Fun, Fun, Fun". The musicians were awesome in every instrumental and vocal. Brian obviously selected each band member for their amazing abilities.

I really enjoyed the the perfect harmonies and seeing the band members having fun performing for the audience. Of course Brian ,the great man behind the music, was exciting to watch as he sang the fun song "Sloop John B. This band can perform for me "All Summer Long" and "It's OK" with me.

George & Ira Gershwin's music had a wonderful Brian Wilson touch to it and was a joy to hear. Even my son surprised me and stated he would "Come And Go With Me" to see Brian perform any time. Son, "You're So Good To Me".

Brian is such an amazing artist and obviously expects and gets perfection in the performance of his wonderful music. He makes one feel "The Warmth of the Sun".

"Wouldn't It Be Nice" to see this group perform more concerts? If only he would "Do It Again" and "Not Shut Down"..

If I do not get an opportunity to see another live performance I will always treasure the many years of "Good Vibrations" Brian has made possible in my life. Brian really did "Add Some Music" to my life and make me feel like I could actually "Catch A Wave"!

Brian is a gifted composer whose contributions defy description. Watching and hearing him with the ensemble of talented musicians/vocalists was moving and inspirational from beginning to end. The beauty of his music and the smiles and good feelings it evokes made the evening memorable. Multiple times, I looked around at the audience to see them beaming at him. That is what his music does for us...

Tremendous foot stomping evening. Brian played all the memorable songs of the Beach Boys with an outstanding back up band. In all reality they sounded better than the original Beach Boys.

I love Brian Wilson's genius for writing all those old Beach Boys songs I grew up dreaming about in N. California.

Brian is gettin on in years, but continues to deliver a sincere blend of old and new songs from his 40 year old music library.

The backup group is tight and very supportive of their lead singer and songwriter.

The show Thursday in Napa, California was filled with an audience that looked like they escaped from an assisted living home. Everyone had a good time. Some were stoned, but most were just staying up way passed their bed time.

God only knows how many more years Brian will continue to perform and I am glad I saw him for the first time without the Beach Boys.
