U2 360 Degree Tour was UNEQUIVOCALLY THE BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!! We walked into the staduim to see an enourmous space ship-looking thing with a light-filled antenna atop it, standing higher than the stadium walls, hovering over the stage. We sat in our seats and waited for MUSE, it was very windy and we started to get impatient when suddenly all the lights went out and stayed out for about 60 seconds, when the stage and space ship thing exploded into life! The 360 degree monitor was awsome! My kids are MUSE fans and I didn't think I was until the band rocked out with guitar action that was from another realm.
After MUSE finished, there was about a 45 minute break, the stadium was filling up pretty well by this time. The original version of Major Tom started to play on the speakers and the space ship started to smoke and lights started blinking, we knew something fantastic was about to take place and IT DID! U2 was taking the stage by the time the song ended, then everything came to life when BONO hit the stage. The music, the lights and the video were beyond description, they were that incredible.
The core stage was round and it had a semi-circle walkway jutting out in front of it with 2 bridges connecting the stage and the edge of the walkway. The crowd filled the space between the core and walkway. Bono and the band members used the entire stage including the bridges throughout the concert. The monitor took what was on the stage and added special effects so it appeared that we were watching a live music video. At one point, the monitor expanded vertically almost to the floor emulating a vortex, all the while broadcasting the action on the stage, giving us a gargantuan view of Bono singing "Vertigo". There were laser lights spotlighting the sky at several points during the evening.
The music was deliciously satisfying, song after song. I was dancing, swaying, sitting still, clapping and crying as U2 took over all my senses. My fifteen year old son leaned over to show that the even moon was peeking in to see Bono. My 27 year old daughter, who was standing on her seat during the show, leaned over during "One" and asked what is my favorite U2 song. I told her that I had five favorites and by the end of the concert, I had to tell her that everything they played are my favorites.
They did two encores. The last one included Bono in a black jacket with blinking red lights matching the microphone he was using that looked like a steering wheel which he held in both hands and the space ship. It was all indescribably incredible and beyond WOW. We sang and danced with Bono, we got that and so, so, sooooo much more.
Next time they come to town, I'm springing for the floor tickets.
