A sunny warm summer evening at the CSM winery was the backdrop for Roland and Curt's first North American show in 2 years, and what a show it was.
The duo, backed by their crack band, took the stage to the delight of the near sell out and "into them" crowd right on time and started the show with EWTRTW.
A polished 18 song set followed, with the first 4 songs running like set plays for a well practiced football team. The band seemed abit tight to start, and finally loosened up with Roland's memorable staging of "Memories Fade".
Both Roland and Curt were engaging and sounded as good as ever, particularly Orzabal, who hasn't lost a chop.
The set ended with a rousing version of "Shout". It would be great to the band later in their abbreviated West Coast tour, particularily with the addition of the now famous version of " Billie Jean" added to the set list.
A wonderful show. ( Perhaps the sound mix could have been better, but, as usual with the Winery, it depended where you were sitting.)
