We enjoyed the University Auditorium’s historic setting as it was perfect for Al’s musical storytelling. Al and Dave Nachmanoff were masterful with their guitars and it was truly a special evening. Dave passed out guitar picks and both took the time to meet some of their fans afterwards which we really appreciated. I am going to find my guitar and learn to play again. Thanks for the inspirational and we look for to seeing you again in Coconut Creek.

University of Florida could not have picked a more perfect place for Al Stewart to play. The accoustics at the University Auditorium only enhanced his music. The only down side was that I was confused on the parking and we went to the wrong place but still made it to the venue on time. The seats were perfect and I even got to meet him at the end. It was a great experience!

You know you're in for a great show, when from their first number this duo of Al and David sounded like a four-piece band. Their amazing guitar gymnastics, complimented by soothing harmonic vocals left us with a sense of musical delight! We all enjoyed the historical perspective Al insinuated into both his music and his audience conversation. Al's intellectual songwriting is something sorely lacking in today's musicians.

Great evening listening to Al Stewart play acoustic versions of many of his popular songs from the 70's. Al's voice has not changed at all over the years. Dave Nachmanoff did a fabulous job with the guitar solos including a sensational solo on Year of the Cat.

Al Stewart always puts on a great show! The only negative thing had nothing to do with the show itself but the ignorant people behind us who talked as though they were in their living room - for the entire show!! (Except for the 5 minutes after I shushed them!)

I was a teenager in the 70s when Al Stewart broke on FM radiop with Year of the Cat, and I had no idea of his intense songwriting, lyrics with historical meaning and intellectual musical style! What fun to see him and the phenomenal Dave Machnamoff (I know I'm spelling that wrong, sorry Dave) playing unbelieveable accoustic set. Was visiting Vegas on a quiet week, not many headliners in town and was really glad we found this show at a very small theater in this casino 15 minutes from the strip. Watching Al and Dave on stage, you can see them dressed in minstrel's garb from 16th century England, strolling around playing their instruments and telling stories through Al's very deep and often historically-based lyrics.

Once again, Al Stewart provided a fine evening of entertainment. So many acts come out, do their songs, and leave. Not Al. He talks to the audience, tells stories about his songs, and generally puts on a fine show along with his talented guitarist Dave. This is the fourth time I have seen Al, and each time was special.

Al played at a small venue, but his music was as big and moving as ever. The way he blends the lyrics surrounding historical events is truly unique and amazing. Wonderful singer songwriter.

Al was well rested, enthusiastic and played and sang as well as he ever has, and I've seen him 7 times. Dave Nachmanoff was great as always, I wish he had done more songs. Opener Rachel Sage did a fine job and was entertaining, though it was very hard to understand her lyrics. She needs to slow down and enunciate a bit IMO.

Al did a lot of less-usual songs - he even skipped Time Passages and Song On The Radio, which were among his biggest hits. I didn't mind, because I got to hear Roads to Moscow, a very long song that he only does occasionally.

I can't recommend the venue, though. Since they do not have reserved seating, there were several examples of one person "saving" (running over and claiming) whole tables of 8-12 seats, and turning away singles and couples, while their friends farther back in the priority line waited or dawdled drinking. Security had to be called in at least one instance as one of these jerks tried to kick a couple out of their seats.

As this was the last show of the current tour, Al Stewart played "Roads to Moscow" as an encore. By his own admission, this is one of the most requested shows at his concerts, but he "rarely plays it anymore". As it is one of his best songs, I feel fortunate to have seen it live. Last time I saw him perform this song was in 1975 (76) during his US tour. In my opinion, Dave Nachmanoff is one of the best acoustic guitar players out there right now. His mastery of the music written by Stewart, and recorded by various instruments in the studio, is amazing.

Al Stewart played a number of his hits and some lesser known material Saturday at the Birchmere - Al has still got it. His guitar work is impeccable, his voice strong and on-key, and his sense of humor intact! He played with Dave Nachmanoff, a superb guitarist in his own right, who did the heavy-lifting lead guitar, while Al handled lead vocals. Al's 'historical folk music' is timeless! Rachael Sage, who opened the show was delightful, and joined Al and Dave in closing the show.

First, the Birchmere in Alexandria, Va is an awesome venue. I mean, the place has amazing acoustics and offers grub and booze during the show. It that cool or what!? Oh, and to see Al Stewart on this stage! What an evening. I thought he was there just for me. He rocked, and joked, and carried on, and played amazing tunes. He forgot the lyrics once (or pretended to) and stopped in the middle of the song like Tiger Woods in the middle of a backswing. I mean, well, you'd expect professionals to make the difficult look easy, wouldn't ya?

I was pretty sure that Al Stewart would show up at the Birchmere with a guitar hero who would help do justice to his music--and he certainly did. Al was more personable than I had ever imagined, and David Nachmanoff's guitar solos were literally breath-taking. My sister tagged along out of boredom, and she was grinning every time I looked at her. Thank you, Al and David, for a wonderful evening and for proving to my sister that I CAN introduce her to something new every once in a while.

I only tagged along on this concert to keep my sister company (she's a long-time Stewart fan), but I was very impressed with the entire show! And the Birchmere was the perfect venue for it. Al Stewart is a very personable performer, and a real pro. The blending of the two guitars was perfect, and the choice of songs was, in my opinion, perfect for both the life-long fans and those of us who are new to the fold. Dave Machmanoff was just great, both in his solo performance and with Al. He brought a lot to the concert with his Django-style guitar playing, and Rachael Sage was an enjoyable warm-up with her unique styling and stage presence. We all know some of Al's songs but, if, like me, you never considered yourself a fan, I recommend you go see him in person. You'll be glad you did!
