Unbelievable, just a great show. Geoff and the boys are as powerful as ever. Fantastic stage presence, searing vocal excellence, awesome musical integrity and precision. Performing "suites" from the albums "Rage for Order", "American Soldier", and "Empire" were great choices. I was amazed how comfortable Geoff Tate seemed hitting every single note on the songs from "Rage for Order". This was the album that got me hooked on this band in 1986. If you have heard songs like "Surgical Strike", "Walk in the Shadows", or "Neue Regel" you know what I mean.
Parker Lundgren appears to be a great fit for the second guitar slot. While no one can replace Chris De Garmo, I felt better about Parker's "presence" than I did with Kelly or Mike Stone. To their credit, they both performed well given the un-fillable shoes they were having to fill.
Lita Ford is as great as ever. She sang her ass off and more than held her own playing next to Michael Wilton. Seeing and hearing her perform with Queensryche is a surreal dream come true. Her and Geoff singing together on "Close my eyes forever" was stunning. Geoff's vocals transformed it and gave it a new feeling of joy in the present tense. It came across more as two people expressing a sincere appreciation for the true love they share.
If you are thinking about going to this show, you should.
For one night just smile, yell, tap your feet, raise your hands, bang your head, whatever. For one night say, "Screw the economy, I'm going to see Queensryche."
