Geoff Tate is back with a vengeance, even if the rest of the band are all new. This is the third time I've seen Queensryche, & the second time I've see "Operation Mindcrime" performed in its entirety. For my first Queensryche show, they played both "Operation Mindcrime" & "Operation Mindcrime II", in their entireties, complete with actors, props, an elaborate stage set, video, & a special guest appearance by the one & only- Ronnie James Dio as Dr. X. That show was the only time Ronnie performed his part live, & I can say I was there.
This time "Operation Mindcrime" was played without all of the theatrics. I missed not seeing the theatrics again, because it really helps to tell the story. But this time, as far as the music goes, Queensryche rocked, which is the most important part.
"Operation Mindcrime" is Queensryche's best album from start to finish. Geoff's voice still has it & he is still just as passionate about this album even after 25 years. The second half of the show featured all of the best hits from their album "Empire", plus the classic song "Neon Knights" from the Dio era of Black Sabbath.
