I've been a fan of Primus for over 20 years, first seeing them open for Rush in the early 90's. Unfortunately, it's been about nine years since I last saw them live, and over the years (and with a swap in drummers) it seems they have become more enmeshed in the "jam band" genre. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but their performance at the Wiltern wan't quite what I was expecting.
As part of the "3D" tour, the visuals relied almost completely on projections, with very few front-lights on the band, meaning that they were more or less anonymous. This tended to take away from the energy a little, limiting the communication between audience and band.
The set-list relied heavily on the "hits", and only once or twice broke out of the meandering jams ("Fisticuffs" was one of these highlights). I still rate this a good 4 stars, but just a little too much jam for my taste.
