I can't decide if it's bad or good that Peter's following is so small in Portland. It was good for us that not many people were there, because we got great seats, and he played to the audience like a living room gathering. This was an intimate show, with conversation and interaction, not to mention really great music - some of which has underpinned the psyches of most of the members of the audience for more than 20 years.
On the other hand, Peter is phenomenal, and it makes me sad that this was not a sold-out show at the Rose Garden. The new generation needs to get some of his poetry tumbling around in their emotional make-up. What would have made it amazing? If he had performed Cascade. And if he had stayed onstage just 20 minutes longer. It went far too fast for me.
