can't believe he is 80! He plays the guitar, the accordian and the keyboard, sometimes the accordian and keyboard at the same time. voice is as good as it ever was. great back up band. This was our fourth John Mayall concert and I can't wait to go again.

John Mayall was incredible. He plays that harmonica like no one else ever has. His voice is great and his phrasing is perfect. His band was phenomenal.

I had never seen the legendary British bluesman and I've been feeling nostalgic about seeing the people I listened to back in the day. Saw Dylan the week before.

Backed by some really fine musicians, it is clear that Mayall has been diminished by age (haven't we all), but he still has the talent and the spark of a born performer. He was great! Fine musician, great personality, remarkable energy and presence.

I'd see him again.

Mayall played many great and classic songs, and has some great musicians in his band (as always!) My only issue was the over playing of his band. I came to see John and his roots I don't need a slapping bass solo and a double bass drum solo. Again his band is very talented but I wanted to see some more raw blues. Also the effects from John's keyboard are just stock Roland keyboard effects - did not really over excite me. I thought his keys could be awesome instead of just average.

John was amazing! High energy solid concert. Rocky was awesome on Guitar. Bass player had some amazing solos (but some of it did not resonate with me). 78 years old and still putting on an amazing high energy show. He has lost a little vocal range but come on, what would you expect?

Truly an amazing and super enjoyable time. As always, his band was better than top notch. Best bass player I have ever seen or heard. Lead guitar equally fantastic. Drums crazy good. I almost drove to Redding the next night to see them again. John Mayall is a blues genius.

I MAY BE OLD BUT I GOT TO SEE ALL THE COOL BANDS.

AND NOW I GET TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN.

WHAT AN AWESOME VENUE..............KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Last time i went to the movie at the uptown, i got kicked out for making out with my girlfriend.
that was at the showing of "A HARD DAYS NIGHT", NOW THAT IS OLD SCHOOL.
The personnel at the Uptown are some of the best.
The show was one of the Great Ones.

Being a long time JM fan, I may have seen it through rose colored glasses. He still has lots of energy on stage, and his keyboards, blues harp were every bit as good as when I used to follow him in the sixties. He voiced has weakened (whose wouldn't @ 78 years old), but that has never been his strong suit for me. His band was excellent, and took me back a few years to drum, guitar and bass solos. Bass player put on a spectacular "lead" bass solo...wow.

I'd give it 6 stars if I could. The band is tremendous, they were engaged with the audience, a wonderful night. One of the most enjoyable concert experiences I've ever had, and I've seen some of the big names.

One of the best shows you could hope to see. Mayall rocks in his own unique style. Incredible band - the bass player was insane good. Mayall playing harp in one hand and keys with the other hand...got to be seen. The opening band was also very good...Danny Paige Band I believe. I could see her being on Blake's or Adams team one day

Mayall is a legendary English bluesman - giving the careers of noted guitarists Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Mick Taylor (just to mention a few) their start... 40 years hence he is ripping up the joint w/Texas axe-man Rocky Athas - the show was vintage Mayall playing 3 tunes from his 1966 breakout album with Clapton (e.g. All Your Love) which Athas simply shredded... Mayall, still in fine voice added smoking harp and piano... for lovers of the blues it can't get much better that that. Perhaps the best indicator was looking around the Uptown Theater during the oncore and seeing virtually everyone up and rocking, filling the isles as Mayall, Athas and the boys just tore it up... If you are a fan of the blues, catch John Mayall while you still can... almost 80 yrs young (born in 1933!!) he is an international treasure!

John Mayall sounds and plays like a man in his 30's. An amazing talent. Impossible to believe he's 78 years old. The trio behind him were 3 of the tightest young musicians I've seen in a long time. They meshed together and with Mayall as though they'd been hangin together for decades. All I can say it was incredible being in the presence of a great musician and a humble man.

John Mayall is old now, yes famous and rightly so, but he should be home relaxing. His voice still holds up, and his keyboard and harmonica sound great, but it's a very quiet display, very mellow. Go for nostalgia if you want, but there are no fireworks here, nothing new, just a trip back to the Filmore in your memories.

John and his band were very tight and sounded very polished. The venue was awesome, and the hosts were very friendly and acomadating. My gal and I were even treated to a personal tour of the buildings, and the place was over 100 years old and very elegant. We had a blast!
