Over the past 20 years or so I've seen Lyle Lovett probably 15 or more times, from the Majestic and Floore's in San Antonio, to the Backyard in Austin the Paolo Solari in Santa Fe and and the Sandia ampitheater in Albuquerque. He simply NEVER disappoints.
Not only does he always provide a first-class experience, with first class musicians, he does so with an anttitude, a personality that makes you feel like you've been lucky enough to be invited into his living room for a special evening. Each time I leave his concert I feel like it was time (and money) well spent.
Monday night was especially noteworthy in that he was even more generous than usual (and that's saying a lot) in praising and showcasing the unique talents of the other musicians. Each could (should) be headlining their own concert, and by giving up some time in the limelight he showed himself to not only have a generous spirit, but to be a person who wants to "pay it forward" in recognition of the many favors that have helped his career over the years.
I'll continue to show up yearly for his concert - not only is he a talented musician that puts on a great show, it's impossible to miss he's just a really good guy - especially these days, there aren't a lot of entertainers that are the whole package. He is.

Lyle has put together a group of musicians whose skills are unmatched by any band playing today. Their vocals filled Majestic Theatre for two and a half hours of pure toe-tapping excitement.
When Lyle riffs to each member and then you hear the back and forth between each of the instruments you'd swear you are in a rock concert one minute and then in a jazz club in Kansas City the next. At a rural South Texas church celebration and then off to the Smokies for bluegrass jams in the woods. Amazing music all night.
Lyle Lovett has produced another great album - the songs from Natural Forces were classic.

"Large band" says it all. Lyle Lovett was drowned out, with the bonehead drummer leading the pack. That is sad, Lyle can be articulate, sensible and interesting. This night he was trivial and inaudible, thanks to his band's volume. We left after 4 songs.

Lyle was fantastic as always. So many great musicians in his band and it's always a treat when he brings them to the front to preform their songs as well as his. His banter with both the band and the audience was as witty as always.

Seeing Lyle with his Large Band has always been on my bucket list but to see them preform at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio was just icing on the cake. They were fantastic. If you have the opportunity to Lyle with His Large Band don't let it pass you up.

We certainly got our money's worth at this concert. Great entertainment. the Large Band consisted of 12 members, of which at least 4 were leaders of their own bands. The songs just kept on coming and the concert lasted nearly 3 hours with no intermission. Couldn't ask for a more enjoyable evening.

Lyle Lovett and his Large Band was an amazing all-star variety show! The changing lineup and interesting instrumental mixes gave each song a fresh interpretation. Each of the players on the stage was a star in his own right, capable of entertatining an audience on their own. Lyle's wry sense of humor shown through between songs.

Couldn't ask for a better show anywhere. The Majestic is such a fabulous venue. We've seen Lyle w/ his large band and on acoustic gigs all at the Majestic and all were above and beyond.

You can always depend on Lyle to give a great concert.

As a lyricist, I had wanted to see Lyle for some time. I missed the show at the Wortham in Houston 20 yrs ago and always regretted it. The show at the Majestic in SA was superb. Fantastic acquistics and Large. Great venue, great show.

Held in the Majestic Theater in San Antonio. Great old theater, old building wonderfully restored. Sound from where we were( row 12 center) was just excellent. We have almost all of Lyle's cd's and the sound and experience made my listening on home or auto second rate, The big band if full of outstanding members, many who have their own body of work.
The style of Lyle made the large format seem small and cozy with all his conversation between songs. The band played almost 3 hours non stop.Great music and great value.
When Lyle returns, we will also.
