the band was great, but the sound was terrible. the vocals were too loud and the guitars, too low. plus, my expensive pre-access ticket had me with an obscured view.....never doing that again. section 109, row e.

Having seen Iron Maiden plenty of times dating back to the early 80's, the show at the Shoreline last Friday night was a let down. The guitars and vocals sounded muted and the base drum and bass guitar were up way too loud. From where we were sitting we could barely hear the guitars, even the solos, and struggled with the pounding of the bass drum. The stage show was also a let down, very average looking backdrops and really lacked the sizzle of a real Iron Maiden show. Great band but this one was a disappointment!

Opening act(s): Felt sorry for Alice Cooper because he was just an opening act. Saw him as main act and show was spectacular. Show was still great with snake, guiliteen (sp?), huge balls in audience and tall monster. Was not loud. Perfect sound. @

Concert was too loud. Fire bombs were spectacular. Could feel the heat from row T in Section 7. Didn't like that lead singer dissed Milwaukee venue because they couldn't get all of the effects on stage as they could in Chicago and pushed fans to see them in Chicago the next night.
Do not like sitting in the middle of a row. Found seats on the side so wasn't standing shoulder to shoulder.
Wasn't crazy about the set list.

The performers were great. Bruce actually shut up and sang - a rare treat for experienced Maiden fans. A brief ( for Bruce ) 5 minute dissertation about how we NY'ers unjustly hate NJ. I guess w/o George Bush to kick around, this is what he is reduced to. Cooper never ever disappoints.

This venue always disappoints, and has taken the last of my hard earned $$. The best way to describe the sound at Jones beach is as if one would wear a spackle bucket over their head throughout the show. The venue suffers from phase cancellation - and the more power they throw into the mix . . . the muddier the sound gets. A $30 radio from walmart has better sound. Could not even get a warm $8 beer. The venue was dry. The seagulls were wet - just ask the chick two rows down who caught a lap full. Yummy.

Save your money folks, as there are so many better venues. Places like the Beacon, with near perfect sound, full service bar, a roof - and far better pricing. Never again, Jones Beach.

This was my 10th time seeing Iron Maiden (first tour was "Powerslave"). This was my 4th time seeing Alice Cooper (first tour was "Rock And Roll Circus"). I've seen Maiden at this venue (Tweeter Center/Comcast Center) 3 times. The sound was fine for them on the "Brave New World" tour, but the sound was absolutely terrible on the "Somewhere Back In Time" and "Maiden England" tours. The bass was the main culprit. Too loud, too muddy. It overpowered the guitars. Sometimes you can blame the venue for sound problems, but in this case you can't. Alice Cooper sounded great. I could hear every instrument and the vocals. Maiden came on and it was just one loud mess.

The only complaint I have about the Alice Cooper set is that it was 15 minutes too short.
He only played for approximately 45 minutes. There was no other opening act.

Maiden played for approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. They were 15 minutes under curfew. There was no reason why they coudn't have played one or two additional songs.
I hate to say it, but they've been going through the motions for quite some time now. Musically they've all seen better days.

As far as the stage show goes it paled in comparison to the "Seventh Son" tour which I attended. For a band who does well selling tickets around the world they really haven't put much money or effort into their stage shows. The last impressive show they put on was "Somewhere In Time".

They were smart in having Alice on the tour, because without him they would have been playing to much smaller audiences.

Alice Cooper's opening set was solid. Sounded great, decent sampling of hits from a few albums he has released. So after his band's 45 minutes, I was pumped for Iron Maiden...

The guys started in, and...you could not hear Bruce DIckinson. For the next two hours, his vocals cut in and out. Mostly out. Seems like the mic or mixing system couldn't handle many of his high notes, or too much sound at once drowned him out. It seemed like it was ok four songs in (Afraid to Shoot Strangers), but then went back to maybe one word out of five for the rest of the show. The guitars were kind of a muddy mess. Lots of feedback in the first two songs, and everythign combined to have a buzzing reverb coming off the amphitheatre's pverhang. None of this happened in Alice Cooper's set, so it was either a hardware or mixing issue.

I could hear Nicko pounding out a strong rhythm the whole time, at least. Sets were great. But overall I feel ripped off, especially considering my party of three came from Midcoast Maine to catch this show. Three sober people with no known hearing issues.

I've seen Maiden before, so I know they're better than this. I just couldn't hear it this time.

Stage set was ok, light show was cool, but the set list sucked in my opinion because I am not a fan of the new album. It would have been so much better if they mixed in a couple new songs with mostly classics instead of vice versa. This was the first concert i have been to where there is a line to get a beer in the middle of the headlining act. The reason... because no one wanted to hear songs from the new album. We all know Iron Maiden is great, so it was disappointing to hear so many people complaining about the concert in a beer line during the show..... Hey Bruce, Steve...... wake up... The crowd went crazy when you played Run to the Hills.... because that is what we paid $60 a ticket for.... the classics!!

the sound quality in club level was way to muddy - couldnt hear a thing Bruce was saying or singing . Their stage was boring. The crowd was hardly in it except for 3 or 4 songs. I have/had no idea who the opening band was or any song they played, and it seemed they played for 30 minutes. as a point of reference, i had seats less than 50 feet from where i attended OZZY in February. Well OZZY rocked the house 10X what Maiden did w, and the sound was awesome - that was a 5 star show!

I saw Iron Maiden in the St. Pete Times forum. I would NEVER recommend seeing a concert in this forum again. The acoustics are terrible! It bounces sounds everywhere and you can hardly figure out what song is playing. But needless to say, after all these years the band is still on their game, guitars playing madly in sync, and Bruce the lead singer sounding as incredible as ever. When the music played all together most of the time the sound was fine, but when the bass and drums played together the feedback would kill the ears. I was also very very disappointed that the band did not play their well-known song, "Run to the Hills" in their encore. I feel that even though they played some older songs, they focused to much on the new songs. I left in disbelief...

Sorry, but a band that is over 30 years old, with as many albums as Iron Maiden has recorded, shouldn't start the show with a new song. They didn't even play Two Minutes To Midnight! But they must've played 4 or 5 new songs.

There were no drums solo.didn't have enough Eddie in t show.miss alots of songs that they didn't sing.they should of did 2 show.not then having a opening band play. they should of play old song of Eddie then t second show sure be Eddie go 2 t future with t new songs.that would been great concert 4 t final frontier tour.

Iron Maiden rocks...this is well known. However, they have put out pretty decent albums in the past 10 years, but the material doesnt come close to the raw power of their first 18 years. This being said, Iron Maiden chose to play mostly newer material at this venue. The newer songs are more complex and well written, but they just do not rock! I saw Maiden in Chicago 3 years ago, and they did the same thing. I vowed not to see them again, but I gave them another chance this time. How they only played 4 older songs I do not know. There was NO Run to the Hills, Trooper, Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight or Wated Years. It was such a huge disappointment. I know they have played those songs hundreds of times, but there is a reason for it...THEY ROCK! No more Maiden for me...I am done seeing them live. Nice work guys, you have let down a long time Maiden fan.

I guess I'm totally old school. The set list was horrendous to me. 11 of the first 12 songs were from CD's I don't own. I stopped at 7th Son way back when. Then suddenly the last 5 songs were old school and the crowd came to life. I was lucky enough to see the Somewhere in Time tour up in NJ 2 summers ago......THAT was a show. Also, no pyro? No incredible light or laser show; just changing backgrounds. Maiden is known for sing along choruses and the whole crowd knowing the tunes.....we can't do that if you sing all new stuff. Very disappointed......will not every buy tickets again without checking the set list first.

They jammed but my brother and i didnt know any of the songs..We decided we must be getting to old ( 46 and 43 ) for concerts.. We were disapointed there were no songs from piece of mind albulm 1983... we may be done seeing the old bands but who knows . we may try again next year...

The band played fantastic as usual, but the band did not play anywhere near enough of the usual stuff you go to an Iron Maiden show to hear. If I were going to pay this kind of money to see them again i would have to know that they would have a better set list.
I am sure they get tired of playing the same songs year after year.....but sorry thats what we pay for and thats part of being a successful band.
