I had just reviewed an article on Adult ADHD and after the fabulous concert wondered if Bruce suffers from this as well. The content of his show would suggest hat he does. The musicianship was amazing and the music very intricate and eclectic - very intellectually stimulating! My best friend and I had moved over so we could see his hands as he played (her suggestion) and it was incredible. The man certainly has talent - it was a loose arrangement of tunes and a variety of instruments but Bruce made us feel like we were in his living room and seemed like a real person not just someone who showed up for the money! The Noisemakers were equally amazing. It would be hard for me to single out which Noisemaker was my favorite - I loved the Bass Player - he seemed to have a real connection with Bruce; the drummer was incredible and the saxophone, loop master woodwind dude was equal to his task - I only noticed one time when he gave up trying to follow Bruce's blazing fast runs (I noticed a slight smile and a shake of his head). Playing with Bruce is challenging no doubt about it.
Bruce played non-stop for over two hours - I had foregone any beverage consumption so I wouldn't feel compelled to leave during the show - that turned out to be a wise decision as there never was a let down or a song that I could have done without.
All in all - a most enjoyable evening and I hope Mr. Hornsby returns to the Sioux City area in the future. Don't wait 23 years to come back Bruce!!!!!
A note on the opening act: Heartfelt rendering of songs that all sounded alike. Probably because he used the same chord patterns throughout - Gsus, Csus, Dsus - played in different keys via his kaypo. Word on the street has it that he was one of Sioux City's finest? He had nice hair and his bass player had a nice hat.
