At long last, I saw Dokken headlining in Pennsylvania!!!! I've been waiting to see them, since their initial breakup twenty years ago!! While not all albums were represented(1999's Erase The Slate, 2002's Long Way Home, and 2004's Hell To Pay), most of the essential Dokken classics were included in the set-"Into The Fire", "In My Dreams", "Alone Again", "The Hunter", "Breaking The Chains", etc. Perhaps, the most noticeable omission was "Dream Warriors"!
Surprisingly, they only played for approximately an hour-and fifteen minutes!! That seems a wee bit short for a headliner!! I saw them headlining the 2002 Metal Edge Rockfest at the Electric Factory, with Ratt, Warrant, Firehouse, and L.A. Guns. However, the show started as late as 8:30PM, so all five bands were restricted to an hour each!! It was also nice to see Dokken in such a small, intimate setting again! My only drawback with the club itself is that there was no seating indoors!!
Overall, if necessary, I would return to this venue to see Dokken, if they were unable to book a concert closer to Philadelphia! Many of the classic 80's heavy metal bands are active once again-Queensryche, Stryper, W.A.S.P., Anthrax, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc. Many continue to play the smaller venues. As long as they play within a reasonable distance, I intend to make the necessary effort to catch them live!!
