Favorite moment: he talked about meeting my wife and she asked him to do True Companion. he retold of their meeting and then played 2 versions @

Setlist: I will hit the highlights. stangers in a car, perfect love, paper walls, silver thunderbird, Memphis, true companion(new and old) 99 problems but the bitch ain't one(Jay Z improv) Last ? boy in NY( Paul Simon)!! A couple I can't remember, they were all great. @

This was an amazing show at an amazing venue. I could not be more pleased with the outcome of the show. In todays music world where everyone is digitaly enhanced to sound better and music plays second fiddle. It was so refreshing to go to a great place and watch Mr. Cohn tear through great classics as well as new covers and on the spot improvisation. His willingness to engage the crowd and tell stories made you feel like you were at a local bar with him by yourself. I would travel anywhere to see Marc in this type of place. The band was great and the sound was amazing. If you only know him from Walking in Memphis then you are missing out on some wonderful music. Go by the CD's and then go see him. Take a friend or two and you won't be disapointed.

My wife and I have gone to see Marc Cohn at Montalvo 3 years in a row, and everytime, he has put on a fantastic performance. Marc is one of those unique artists that sounds as fantastic live as he does on his albums. He has a great sense of humor and is really able to connect with his audience. It is truly a blessing to be able to see him perform in a venue as intimate as Montalvo.

So nice to see a great artist in such a small, intimate venue as the Carriage House @ Montalvo. Marc Cohn not only sings and plays with all his heart, he talks with the audience in an honest, personal manner. Loved that the opening act joined him for a couple of songs, and they seemed to be enjoying performing together. Really glad that I went to this event!

This is a wonderful venue to see Marc Cohn in. Not only does he put on an outstandanding concert, because of the size of the venue, he interacts back and forth with the audiance. It is absolutely supurb

This was by far one of the best concerts we've been to ... and we go to a lot of concerts. Marc was engaging and personable, and his voice is mesmerizing. It didn't hurt to have David Crosby in the audience and have him invited up to sing with Mr. Cohn. Absolutely incredible!

Small theatre, intimate atmosphere, wonderful music -- what more could you ask for? I loved every minute of it. Marc is a terrific songwriter and a great musician. I brought a friend who wasn't familiar with his music, and she also loved the show. Buy his albums and go see him live -- you won't be disappointed.

Another amazing performance by Marc Cohn! This is my 7th time seeing him perform and each time I think it can't get any better, but it does. His talent for storytelling between songs makes his show very personal and sets him apart from most artists. His humbleness is refreshing. His soulful voice leaves you wanting more. I'll be back!

We've seen Marc three times - 1992 tour / Marc Cohn Album, in Northhampton, Ma 2007 / Join the Parade, and Pepperdine. Great voice, great range - solid performance(s) - feels very sad / melancholy. Miss the Marc who was a 'hard charging' musician, in love with his craft and with performing. Don't get me wrong - his three piece band bgrought it. Immpeccably produced, master musicians and vocalists. Mark gets attached / relates to his audiences. He's a true story teller.

Marc Cohn certainly still has the voice that we all have loved since we first heard 'Walking in Memphis'. This performance was a perfect collection of Marc's songs suited so well to his acoustic presentation. 'Silver Thunderbird' was the song I most wanted to hear and 'YEAH' he did it. It was a great show in a great venue.

First let me say, I am a rocker (KISS, Motley, Etc) and my wife wanted to go see this show. However, I can appreciate talent and songwriting skill and this man is a master storyteller and a genuinely friendly and giving soul. How often do you get to shake the hand of a Grammy winner, yet he stayed to sign any and everything you wanted? He told behind the scenes stories of the music and took shouted out requests from the audience. His back up band is incredible and we were 6 songs in before I noticed there was no drummer because the arrangements filled up the room. With songs like "Walking in Memphis", "Paper Walls", "Walk Through This World", "29 Ways", "One Safe Place", "True Companion", "Perfect Love" there was never a dull moment. Go see him. It was my first time and I'll never miss another one of his shoes in my area.

Marc's song, True Companion, was our wedding song over 21 years ago and we have enjoyed his music every since. The show was very personable and relaxed, just like us, and we loved it! We have already recommended seeing the show to several of our friends.

The entire evening's performance was severely hampered by an over amplified, poorly mixed sound system. Key to the enjoyment of his performance is the ability to hear and understand the lyrics of his songs. This was possible only in the quieter moments of the songs. Most of the time the vocals were distorted and unintelligible and drowned out by the sounds coming from the accompanying instruments.

Our evening with Marc Cohn was just so much fun. The music was even better than I expected--he had just two other musicians on stage, and they were just right. His voice was in perfect condition.

What was a big surprise was how funny he is. He told so many warm and lovely stories about his music--it made the evening.

This concert way exceeded expectations. Cohn has a compelling stage presence that is deep, emotional and playful. His musical interpretation of a Simon and Garfunkle song was intensely moving, his band was super talented, especially his guitar player who reminded me of Mark Knopfler and a perfect back up for his husky bass voice. Awesome concert with one mid-concert standing ovation and five encore songs. Loved it!!

His performance was just enough banter interspersed with his best songs. I've only become a fan within the last few years and this was the first time I've seen him in concert. He seemed very comfortable in the Birchmere's intimate atmosphere and interacted with the audience in a relaxed, informal way. I enjoyed his song introductions which explained the background of his own songs as well those he covered. I would have liked to have heard more of his own songs as his sets were rather short, but was probably due to his backup musicians who had only practiced with him a short time, though they were superb as well.

My only complaint was having to listen to the conversation of two women at the table next to ours during most of the show, and I was very happy when they left. They were sitting at a reserved table and perhaps thought they were extra special and were entitled to be rude. It did detract from our experience at the Birchmere which has always been our favorite venue.
