Chicago and the Doobie Brothers delivered a wonderful 3 1/2 hour performance on June 16th at Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City Walk. Both bands have many original members and sounded amazing. The Doobie Brothers opened the show with some of their hits (from the early days of the band) along with some of their new music (which is to be released soon). Chicago then played a very long set from their many hits over the years. The show closed with several songs played in a joint effort as the two bands combined in an outstanding and memorable collaborative effort. The bands sound as great as they played as seperate bands, and were even better as a joint band! Both of my teenage sons, their friend and I throughly enjoyed the show as we all felt that the bands gave us absolutely their best . I highly recommend this event if you get the chance to see these bands perform together.

We have always loved "Chicago", since it was the music of our youth and early marriage years. But even we were unprepared for the incredible performance we witnessed in Baltimore. "Chicago" blends exciting musicianship with skilled and practiced showmanship. The show was flawless, from beginning to end, and Chicago fans hoping to hear all their old favorites were not disappointed.

A humorous and delightful side note: you've got to hear the authentic and classic city-of-Chicago accent of trumpet player (and original member) Lee Loughnane. If you remember the old "Saturday Night Live" skit about "Da Bearss", you've heard that accent.

Once again - as always - CHICAGO was at the top of their game Wednesday evening.... I have seen them many, many times - and they never disappoint!!! From their hard driving brass filled rock classics to the slower, sweeter ballads - they never miss a beat. Their high energy and obvious enjoyment performing is not lost on the audience - often bringing them to their feet! Chicago is a legend - consummate performers - and were truly amazing - AGAIN!!! Hope they come back to the area - SOON!!! Great venue!

My friends & I had forgotten how many hits Chicago has had over the past 40 years. It's still a big band, and although only a few original members still belong, their performance was thoroughly enjoyable. The horns and drums had people on their feet. The trombone and trumpet players entertained the crowd, and while not youngsters, played and danced the night away while doing so. We smiled all evening.

I would see them again, in a heart beat!

Over the years I must have seen Chicago two dozen times. They seem to get better every time I see them. I plan on going again next month when they are in my area. I think everyone really enjoyed the show.

If you hadn't been to a Chicago concert back in the day, the concert was okay. If you remember the good old days when Peter Cetera was still with the band, then you were disappointed with the vocals.

This is the first time we have seen Chicago live and we thought they were fantastic. The band had lots of energy and they sounded just like their recordings. If you haven't seen Chicago you have to catch one of their concerts!!

This was my first time to see the band live. They did not disappoint! They brought energy all night long. Are you kidding me? A 2.5 hour set? No one does that anymore! State Theatre is a great setting and accentuated the ballads beautifully. I'll buy tickets for another show with Chicago again.

Chicago is chock full of fabulous musicians and they deliver an energy-filled show with all the hits their fans have loved for years. They did a 2-1/2 hr. show (with a 15 min. intermission) that had great variety, highlighting every member of the band at some point.

They put on a hell of a show - energetic and professional, with great stage presence and flawless performance. One of the best groups I have ever seen

From the beginning to the encore "25 Or 6 to 4" they exuded energy that was palpable and felt by the audience. My hands were sore afterwards from the hearty applause they so richly deserved for their performance. We enjoyed the camaraderie that was evident among the group and the added hints of humor in their routine. At the end, like many others, we were like insects drawn to the light bulb as we made our way toward the stage to catch a better look at the band and greedily listening to every last note they had to offer. It was exhilarating!

I attended this concert with friends and family. I had seen Chicago in person twice before, but they just keep getting better. Besides their beautiful music, they interact with the crowd and really act like they are enjoying themselves. For people like me who fight depression and anxiety, they are the best prescription a person could want! I hope they know how much joy their music can bring. At least for one night, things are great. I hope they get back to Rochester or at least MN before long. Thank you Chicago!!!.

As musicians they still have it, but as far as having a sound crew that knows what they are doing, they fail miserably. They had some young guys on the console who clearly have the misguided attitude that louder is better. No, louder is only louder and totally muddies the sound. The mics where too hot for vocals, the drums, especially the bass drum, were over mic'ed, the bass was way too strong and not only drowned out everything else, but some of the great bass lines that Peter Cetera used to play were lost. Even when approached at the intermission, the sound crew had a lot of attitude, ignored obvious observations and blamed what I was hearing on the space. True you have to adjust for the space which a good sound engineer can do - we heard Crosby, Stills and Nash in the same space and the sound quality was fantastic. The biggest dissapointment of Chicago, is that the horns are the orignial members and instead of the sound being bright, you could hardly distinquish them with the other noise pounding away. They need a new sound crew who knows what mixing and sound engineering is all about.
