First of all, when this event was first posted, it as advertised as a concert. It was not a concert. It was really a book promotion.
That part ended up being OK, because I like David Byrne, and I think his book is going to be good, but this event ended up going south.
It began with David Byrne talking for 15 minutes, presenting some slides and discussing the cities he has cycled through. His presentation was funny, and smart, and he got the crowd thinking about how much or how little our cities are built for cyclists.
The presenter after him was a good speaker, and her presentation as a big pat-on-the-back about how she has improved bicycling in Portland.
The last two presenters should not have even been presenting. Together, they wasted an hour and a half of our time, both saying basically the exact same things about how they love bicycling, and nothing about promoting the book, or city design and bicycle transportation.
There was supposed to be a Q and A at the end, but the last two clown presenters had wasted so much time talking about nothing of importance, that David Byrne was ready to leave right away, which he did, after saying "this took too long".
Over all, it was a let down, we were there to see David Byrne, not a cycling blogger and a transportation guy who hands out doughnuts to cyclists. They should not have been there.
