With a blue moon rising, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers once again took the stage at the famed Nikon Theatre at Jones Beach before a packed crowd of Parrotheads. Eager to make up for last year's show in a Monsoon, Jimmy and the Reefers played there heart out for their adoring crowd.
From classics like Volcano and A Pirate Looks at Forty, to a brilliant cover of Neil Young's Hurricane the band did not disappoint. Fans were on their feet dancing, swaying and singing along with just about every song.
The band even broke out a special acoustic version of the Crosby, Stills and Nash hit "Southern Cross," with members of Mac McAnally an Nadirah Shakoor sitting in beside him under soft blue lights with backup vocals.
Fans were delighted as usual during "Changes in Latitudes," to a video montage of the days shenanigans and revelry from what has to be the most epic tailgate scene in all of music. From school bus turned Pirate Ships, to pick-up trucks filled with sand, and kiddie pools, Parrotheads indeed through a terrific party all day in Field 4 at Jones Beach.
And of course, the evening would not be complete with out the the Parrothead anthem, Fins. To be part of a sell-out crowd, simultaneously throwing their "fins" from side to side is a site to behold. Everyone was on their feet for the iconic tune the capped off a truly amazing evening. Everyone except two jerks in front of me, but thats another story...
