The musicians were absolutely fantastic. Close your eyes and you would've thought the original Funk Brothers were in the house. Peabo Bryson and Lella James were spectacular as well. Triple J was phenomenal on Bass.

Location:Philly native who doesn't mind traveling a bit for

James Jamerson Jr, the son of original Funk Brother bassist James Jamerson, as well as Peabo Bryson and Leela James,the featured vocalists, came to Washington,DC Friday. They played a 2 hour Motown set that showcased Jamerson's bass prowess. Songs included Shotgun, My Girl, Function At The Junction, Don't Mess With Bill, It's A Shame, I'll Try Something New, and many more. Everyone was exceptional-the only complaint is they didn't introduce everyone. If you love Motown you will definitely enjoy this show!!!!!!!!!

While I enjoyed the show, it was clear that someone restricted the play list. I left hungering to hear a lot of the favorites that were left out of this show . The vocals were great, as was most of the band. James Jr, however is standing in the shadow...

This was not what I expected. Very disappointed in the song choices that were made. I would have liked to hear more of the Four Tops, Temptations, Supremes, and The Jackson Five. Didn't care for the story behind it all...found it to be very boring.

The event was advertised as a Motown music extravaganza. It was a far cry from that. With just a few exceptions, the songs were was is known as the "B" songs from the artists. I recognized the names of the original artists but not the songs. The advertisement led us to believe that Peabo Bryson and Leela James would be singing famous Motown songs all night. That did not happen. Many of the numbers were sung by the back up duo who had great voices, but we did not even know who they were. There was an obvious lack of rehearsals for the event. Both Peabo and James Jamerson, Jr. had to read a lot of their background information lines. The song "hear come the judge" was a real dud originally and at the concert. The musicians played well, but they were playing songs that were not well known at all.

The Wilber sound system isn't great -- loud but not bright. Not all the singers were as into it as you'd want. The "story line" of the Funk Brothers and Jamison Jr. was a weak dilution of the movie. But overall, it is a testimony to the power of the original music and our memories that the evening was fun.

ATTENTION: If you're expecting to see Peabo Bryson even do a few of his songs you'll be as disappointed as we were. What a waste of his presence. Any halfway decent soul singer could have fronted that band and played those Motown covers. And to that end, Leela James was in fine and powerful voice. The 2 back-up singers were good vocalists as well. But apparently, they wouldn't have been able to demand $60 per ticket if they were headlining the bill! We basically overpaid to watch a cover band. Pretty much everyone in our section was there to hear Peabo and came away feeling duped.
Peabo is probably the most underrated soul soloist of the past 30 years with a natural and silky voice. I've seen him several times since the 80's and always came away feeling like 'Wow!, what a show!' Not this time. I felt almost sad for him. He needs new management or something. I can't imagine he's in such a state that he'd have to do this just for the payday. And if he is? That's another reason he needs new management. Hey Peabo: You still got that fantastic voice and we're still "So Into You". You should be out playing small venues in your own name doing your own songs. Here's hoping you'll "Feel the Fire", try "Reaching for the Sky" again, so we can hear you "Show and Tell". C'mon Peabo (and management); "Can You Stop the Rain" and "Let the Feeling Flow" for us again?

This was our first time attending an event at Sound Board and everything was awesome. From the time we checked into our magnificent room until showtime, we felt welcomed. Peabo and Regina Belle were awesome together and the sounds were excellent.

I have believed he is the best male vocalists since the 80's with Robert Flack and going on to team up with the other females Celine Dion on tons of others. I see him every chance I get and hope he comes back tyo Motor City Casino every year. I will be there. I have often thought of writingCeline and suggest she team up with him in her Vegas show. Peabo has an awesome & beatiful voice!!!!!

Mercy me, Gracious Sakes!!. That voice and the memories his chosen songs brought back.

My only complaint is when Peabo 'played off' the guitarist who was on our (audience) left. We couldn't SEE Peabo's playing when jammin' with him. Where he was positioned made Peabo turn away from/his back to us.

Now about girlfriend Regina. She's got the most infectous smile. It's truly beautiful. And her energy - I was pooped from watching. AND as always, her IF I COULD brings tears to my eyes and an ache/tugging to my heart.

Location:Enjoy a night on the town every now and then.

I really enjoyed the concert, with a few friends who also were very glad that they attended also. Peabo was just great. First time going to a concert at the Sound Board, would go back.
