This is the third time I've seen Bon Jovi. But this time our whole family went, & it was the second rock concert that I took my kids to. My kids love Bon Jovi & know a lot of his songs, including most off of his new album "What About Now". It was great that there was no opening band to have to sleep through. It was just Bon Jovi for 3 hours.
He played all of his hits, including many deep track hits. For example, while many fans sat down during "Lost Highway", I was rocking out with Jon & raised my hands in unison with him. I guess it helps having seen him before to know when to raise my hands.
My favorite song was "Have A Nice Day". It was cool to see the smiley face from that album cover projected onto the back wall & onto the audience on the floor.
At first I was sad to learn that Richie Sambora was not going to be playing guitar, but it turned out that his replacement Phil X, absolutely nailed it. In fact Phil seemed more animated on the guitar than Richie ever did. Jon even gave Phil plenty of credit at the end of the show.
The length of the concert was an impressive 3 hours. It's obvious Jon loves LA. At his concert just before ours, several reviewers complained since he only played for 2-1/2 hours for them. Well I have only one comment for them, at least our show was sold out whereas there's was not, so Jon appropriately rewarded us with a longer show. And why is that Jon Bon Jovi asks? And he replies appropriately, "Because We Can". When you're a megastar like him, you can do just about anything you want.
There were two encores. And just when we thought the show was over, Jon asked his band to play one more song. It was awesome.
