Eric and Buck may be getting "up there" in age, but they still know how to rock along side their "junior" fellow band mates, as Blue Oyster Cult delivered a solid performance, replete with numerous guitar shredding solos by both Buck Dharma and Richie Castellano. Old tunes, and a few from the 1980's ("Perfect Water" from "Club Ninja" was the most recent release that they performed, I think), coupled with the favorites that you would expect made for a decent show. Drumming was a little sloppy and weak from a usually strong Jules Radino, but not bad - Kasim Sulton worked the bass fretboard with a lot of energy all night. A band with such a prolific discography can play for a day and still not get to all the songs you'd want to hear, but the selection was solid and the aging crowd seemed to enjoy it. Good show, all in all. Only complaints relate to sound mixing (drums other than the snare were almost inaudible) and the venue seating layout was horrible (not BOC's fault) - the bottom section closest to the stage was open dinner theatre seating, but the upper balconies were tightly packed rectangular cafeteria tables all pointing at the stage, meaning you were always looking through people that you were sandwiched next to in order to get a glimpse of the band. Resorts Casino - c'mon, dudes, there's got to be a better way to lay out seating (or maybe just increase the number of bars and have SRO). Light show was minimal, no lasers or video, and we didnt get to see Eric ride in with a "passenger" on the back of a motorcycle or any stunts like that, so it felt a little more like a bar/small club expereince than the 1000 or so people theatre setup that the venue provided, with the emphasis on musicianship and nailing the songs. Would have liked to hear Dom & Sub, Hot Rails, Quicklime Girl, E.T.I., Heavy Metal, Take Me Away, See You In Black, The Old Gods Return - but then again, it wasn't a 3-hour tour. BOC fans will not be disappointed - and newbies who only know BOC for (Don't Fear) The Reaper, Burnin' For You, and Godzilla will be satisfied.

Favorite moment: Buck and Ritchie trading solos, and Buck's prelude to (Don't Fear) The Reaper. And then of course, Eric hitting the cowbell... :) @
