I have seen Amy Grant in concert (with the Huntsville, AL symphony) before and that show was wonderful. The show last night at the BJCC was not as good. The first half was very good overall, and then after an intermission, the wind just seemed to have gone out of her sails. Most of the second half was taken up with songs played by the orchestra only, Amy's teenage daughter singing a song, and other similar sorts of things to detract from a show which should have been lovely. She sang more of her religious songs last night, which was OK, but I prefer her other "pop" songs by far. Don't know what the problem was, other than Amy's niece trying to deliver a baby in a Nashville hospital while the concert was going on (Amy spent a lot of time introducing family members who were present and talking about others who weren't, which was OK, but took time up which could have been spent playing her music, which is what we came for, right??), but I was disappointed. I would still probably go see her again, however, and would probably encourage others to go, as well, despite the letdown last night.
