His voice started weak as it has the best few years BUT got much stronger as concert progressed. Was great to see this master perform several of his many hits. As usual his band, who have been with Lightfoot for decades, was incredible.

My husband and I have been Gordon Lightfoot fans for many years. In fact, we've loved his music ever since we heard "If You Could Read My Mind", way back in the early 70's. Yes, I know that Mr. Lightfoot is older now, but he is still an amazing performer. If anything, his age gives new meaning to the lyrics of many of his songs. He's now "been there and done that" - truly. I guess you might say that he sings with the authority of experience, and makes it all very entertaining. After the concert, we had the privilege of meeting him. Our children (both musicians) went with us and were so very taken with both his writing and his personality. I might add that he did not change his arrangments - the voice is perhaps not as strong as in his earlier days, but it is still there. Gordon lightfoot - still a troubador.

Gordon and his band sounded great! He performed all of his hits, including his masterpiece, "Canadian Railroad Trilogy".
After all of this time, he still has it. You can feel his presence in the room before you actually see him.
Don't miss this talented, seasoned performer. He is truly a legend.

I was a bit disappointed with the Gordon Lightfoot show. The stage looked fantastic. I loved the changing visuals on the drapes! The band was right on! They were tight and the sound was clear. My disappointment was in Gordon's vocals. I'm sure his voice has lessened with the years but I felt his microphone should have been turned up. If you didn't know the lyrics you wouldn't be able to understand him.

MR LIGHTFOOT'S BAND WAS REMARKABLE, BUT HE WAS NOT. WE LEFT AT INTERMISSION. HIS VOICE WAS NOT UP TO WHAT I THOUGHT A PERFORMER OF HIS CALIBER SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I TOOK MY HANDICAPPED DAUGHTER TO THIS CONCERT BECAUSE SHE LISTENS TO HIS MUSIC ( AND ENJOYS IT) ON THE RADIO. SHE WAS NOT IMPRESSED & DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ANY OF THE MUSIC. I BELIEVE MR. LIGHTFOOT SHOULD REMAIN A LEGEND & STOP TOURING.

I know Gordon Lightfoot since the late 60s. I never had a chance to see him live. I was surprised to sit beside a 12 year old girl who enjoyed this show as much as I did. The circle is closed.

I hate to give a bad review to such a legend, but this concert was probably the most disappointing event I've ever attended. I'm not sure if it's his age or the medical issues he's had within the past few years, but honestly--he should NOT be touring.
We couldn't understand a single word he was singing or saying during the entire concert! If we hadn't known the words to many of the songs, we would have had no idea what he was even singing. He can't hit the high notes any more, he can't hit the low notes any more, and he has no volume whatsoever. He started one song incorrectly and had to restart, and during "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," he forgot which verse he was on and had to pause to figure it out. His band just smiled....obviously, they're familiar with this happening.
The man was an incredible icon of the 70's, but truthfully, I would not recommend this concert to anyone, and I actually wish I could get my money back. To those who would say I'm being unrealistic because of his age, I cite Sir Paul McCartney, who still sings in the same key. No disappointment there.

He was not the man I saw 35 years ago, but neither am I. I know he's been through a hell of a lot physically and, I'm sure, emotionally, and probably should have left this world when his artery ruptured back in 2003 (?). But I was glad to hear those old songs (friends) and a few I haven't.
He doesn't have that rich timbre that once defined his voice, but the lyrics rang as true as ever and I think I saw a little bit of emotion on a few of his compositions.
The band was excellent and - SURPRISE - they were listenable, i.e., not loud. Too many acts have either lost their hearing and, therefore, help the audience do the same, or they think volume is an important part of their presentation. Gordon Lightfoot proved a concert could be as enjoyable as any without having to employ the earplugs I was carrying. His was an honest presentation that drew its strength from the power of his lyrics or, perhaps I should say, his story-telling.
I was sorry to see him so frail and I would have loved to have heard that richness of his voice. But he didn't seem to mind, so why should I? As he said in quoting Samuel Clemens, "the rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated." For that, I and the rest of the audience were greatly thankful.

The Youkey theatre is amazing. Acustics were unbelievable. A bit disappointed there were a number of empty seats in front of mine. GL was very laid back and didn't perform some of his better material but it was nicely presented and the band was very good..

I am a longtime fan of Gordon Lightfoot and while I am glad to have seen him and heard many of the songs I love (good thing I had a front row seat!), it's sad to say, he should consider retiring. Sorry, the voice just isn't there anymore. Still, the crowd--including me--beckoned Gordon back to the stage for 3 encores; maybe because something miraculous would happen, or probably because we'd never see or hear him again except on albums, CDs or the radio--and that's the way I want to remember him anyway.

Enjoyed this concert. Gordon Lightfoot does not waste a minute on stage. Starts right into favorites as soon as he enters the stage. One brief intermission and a couple of encores. I lost count of the number of songs he played.
Comfortable seating and intimate feel in the Mahaffey Theater.

Last night at the Mahaffey Theater Gordon Lightfoot and his band put on a solid performance as usual. From beginning to end, a quite enjoyable show, and many of his diehard fans could be heard singing along with the Canadian legend. From The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald to Sundown, Carefree Highway, et al, the audience was wonderfully entertained. Mr. Lightfoot is a humble man, thanking the audience for showing their appreciation many times. This man is truly worthy of his legendary status among singer/songwriters.

Love this band. Great musicians. Gordon is such a great storyteller. He is one of the best lyricists. He puts his heart and soul into his music. This was my third Gordon Lightfoot concert. If he is in the area, I will be there. I never get tired of listening to his music. Best investment is his cd box set, including a book of Gordon's history. Very interesting person. I can't say enough about these guys. So enjoyed his concert March 12, 2010. God Bless you Gordon, you are one in a million.

i have seen Gordon Lightfoot several times through the years, but this time was extra special, as he may not come back to my town anytime soon if at all, he made a point to cover all bases as far as play list goes, i dont think he missed an album, as Gord inspired me to play guitar at age 12, i have gone on to become a very good musician, and i have him to thank for it, this man is truely blessed in his songwriting, and music skills, and he is quite frankly the last true baladeer in my opinion, God Bless you Gordon Lightfoot, thank you for all the wonderful songs....

Although I have to complement Mr. Lightfoot for his stage presence, the overall truth is that he should retire. The Voice that gave him his distinctive sound is GONE !!
I drove an hour and 20 mins to get to this concert and now consider it a waste of Gas.
I sat through the first half of the concert hoping, with each song, that possibly as the night went on, that maybe His voice would deepen with use. If anything it got softer and higher. I admit the man still has his skill with the Guitar. The main problem I had was every song sounded like it was being sung by my Grandfather and not by the Great Gordon Lightfoot.
If I thought I could get my money back I would ask for it. The saddest part is I love his music, and now I will have to try and forget how badly he sounded last night. At the intermission I had to leave. I would have left earlier but I was in the center of a row and the seats are so tightly packed together in the Mahaffey Theater that it would have been grossly unfair to the other concert goers either to my left or right if I had gotten up and tried to leave. So I sat through the entire first half hoping and praying for an intermission.
I will miss Mr Lightfoots voice, but I must say I will never go to the Mahaffey Theater ever again. Its seating is as bad if not worse than the Sardine can they call the Ruth Eckert Hall which on a scale of 1 to 10 is a negative 10.
I went to see the Moody Blues (the three remaining original members +) Thursday night, and they were outstanding. They still had their original sound and carried off a memorable concert. i give them two thumbs up. I am sad to say I would not recommend Gordon Lightfoot's concert to anyone, except my worst Enemy.
Two thumbs down.
