My husband and I have been Gordon Lightfoot fans for many years. In fact, we've loved his music ever since we heard "If You Could Read My Mind", way back in the early 70's. Yes, I know that Mr. Lightfoot is older now, but he is still an amazing performer. If anything, his age gives new meaning to the lyrics of many of his songs. He's now "been there and done that" - truly. I guess you might say that he sings with the authority of experience, and makes it all very entertaining. After the concert, we had the privilege of meeting him. Our children (both musicians) went with us and were so very taken with both his writing and his personality. I might add that he did not change his arrangments - the voice is perhaps not as strong as in his earlier days, but it is still there. Gordon lightfoot - still a troubador.

Gordon Lightfoot gave it all to his performance. His show was alright considering his health concerns over the years. Gordon had diminshed vocals but his spirit and enthusiasm remain.

The band was tight, the song selection good. Gordon's vocals were a little strained at times, but still shone bright. The Orpheum Theatre was incredible!

This concert was not a good experience.
We drove from Bakersfield --- about an hour and a half, paid 150 in ticket fees, and 75 for the meal.
Gordo was burned out due to a 20 date tour in 26 days; this being date #17.
Greedy tour promoter, greedy performance management, greedy venue management -- no excuse for this.
His voice was extremely weak, and while the band was subdued in reaction to this, the sound engineer was oblivious.
I flat out could not hear Gordo and the comments he made between songs.
Numerous calls were made from the audience to the sound board to raise the volume, to no avail.
We had a dinner reservation, but were seated so far off to the side of the venue, that both Gordo and band could not be seen.
We requested and received alternate seating, but this is an apparent reflection on the venue's prime motivation -- make money at any cost.
To top it off, the food was extremely expensive and was served cold.
To rub salt in the wounds, coffee was requested 3 times and on the 4th time i was informed that the waitress had gone home.
I was informed by the bar manager that the club did not have coffee.
Got out of that place and ain't never going back.
$250 gone with nothing to show for it except a good lesson not to go back.

Favorite moment: When he played Don Quixote @

My wife and I saw Gordon Lightfoot 2 years ago here at the Orpheum Theatre. He seemed a bit frail, and his voice wasn't too strong, but he and the band put on a great show.
Sunday we saw him here again, and he looked healthier, as if he had put on a little weight. At the start of the show his voice was a bit weak, but as the show progressed he seemed to get stronger. His between song banter was humorous. and he got more energetic as the show went on, feeding off the audience.
He had a bit different mix of songs from the previous show I saw. I was glad to hear some of his older songs: Beautiful, Don Quixote, Song For a Winter's Night, Did She Mention My Name, and Early Morning Rain, as well as the usual mix of hiits. Also some newer tunes like Painter Passing Thru, Ringneck Loon, and the final tune: Blackberry Wine; which I had never heard before.
Over all it was a very great show, as he and the band were hitting on all cylinders, and I'm glad I took the opportunity to see him again. I would highly recommend seeing his show to anyone.

It was painful to watch the show. We left at intermission, the first time I have EVER done that. We are HUGE Gordon Lightfoot fans, but this is not Gordon. We saw him 20+years ago at Gammage Auditorium in Tempe and figured it was just the bad acoustics that lent to an unhappy event. So we figured we'd try Gordon again. Sorry we spent the money. Went home and listened to the Gordon collection on the IPOD to get the bad experience out of our minds. Now that's the Gordon Lightfoot we know and love. His long run is way over. Forgetting the words to the songs and not singing above a bad whisper just says its time to give it up. Sorry Gordon, we love you, but won't spend scarce cash these days to go to another of your concerts.

Having seen him 4 other times, the show was not as outstanding as the first. However time and illness have taken it toll. He did much of his :side two" tunes and not much of the classic work, still a very good show. I wish I can see PP&M one more time.

The songs I was familiar with were good to hear. I was not familiar with more than half of the songs performed. There was almost no interaction with the audience by Gordon although the audience did initiate enthusiasm. It was the very first concert for the friend I was with and this concert did not generate much interest in going to other concerts. I would have liked to hear more songs from the Gord's Gold album.

While we heard some complain after the show, "Why didn't he play ....?", I was pleased over all. Sure, there were a couple of his classic tunes that I would have liked to hear (like the "Canadian Railroad Trilogy"), but, overall it was a great show. After all he's been through physically, and at his age, he showed great poise, energy, and clearly his musicianship hasn't suffered over the four decades he's been making music. We thoroughly enjoyed the show.

Time and illness has taken toll on Lightfoot but if you close your eyes and listen, his songs and music will still transport you to memories of better days. I did enjoy the concert. If you want to pay homage to a folk legend then by all means go. You will be rewarded.

I had heard his voice was 'troubled', and whether by the stroke, the history of intubation/ventilator episode during his aortic aneurysm recovery, or just age's effect on the vocal cords, his singing was not even passable. Anything beyond a normal talking-range turned into the sound of a raspy exhale and the words were not understandable. I *love* Gordon Lightfoot's music, as recorded on his many compilations, and have been a fan for decades. This event, and his live presence at this point in his career, was basically only detrimental to my enjoyment. At various points I was actually laughing to myself at how badly expectations met reality, and the person I went with had the same reaction, which was entertaining. Gordon Lightfoot was really a good sport, but I would have expected his other band members to contribute more to the vocals where he was running into trouble (at least half of every song), but they only helped with the instrumentals. A real shame. Walked out halfway through since the only thing really to be gained was seeing him on stage live, and then that novelty wore off.

The Orpheum thater in Phoenix is a great venue and our seats were terrific. The band was very good and the laid back atmosphere made for an enjoyable evening. Unfortunately, Gordon Lightfoot's voice has lost much of its strength due to his illness. His range has been diminished some, but the big problem was that even in the fifth row, center stage it was impossible to understand many of the lyrics. I don't know what those in the back of the theater could hear, but I suspect not very much. Maybe they can compensate at future shows by bringing the level on his mic up some. I really liked the venue, the band, and the songlist, but you really need to be able to hear and understand the words at a Gordon lighfoot concert.

I have always thought of Gordon Lightfoot as one of my all-time favorites. I last saw him about 15 years ago in Seattle and he was great. The years, however, have not been that kind to this singer. His voice has lost alot of its qualities and the music just does not come across as it used to. Mr. Lightfoot has had some health set backs and is to be given credit for adapting and overcoming, but alas, despite his best efforts, the Gordon Lightfoot we know and love was just not there.

I am and always will be a GL fan and recognize his lifelong contributions to writing and performing, but when an individual is clearly incapable of performing then the promoter should not charge for a concert that is extremely below the performer's present capabilities. I am aware of the physical challenges GL has endured but his inability to project the lyrics or carry the melody combined with the low volume on the sound system was frustrating and was painful to watch.

Gordon LIghtfoot is one of my favorite artists from way back so I was looking forward to seeing him. I was extremely disappointed. His voice lacks strength, inflection, volume. One got the impression that he and his band were only waiting to get it all over with and go home since this was the last concert of many. Actually, he kept referring to the end of the concert saying "We're almost there!". No facial expression when singing, no enthusiasm. As much as I love the man's music, I would have to advise him it was time to give up live concerts.

Good selection of music. GL's voice is very weak--hard to hear if not paying attention. I understand he has had throat issues in years past that have effected his ability to project a stronger voice.
This is the first time I have seen GL. I would recommend to someone who knows his music well but not to someone who has not followed his career.
