Gorgeous venue! Joan had friendly interaction with the audience, and lots of stories and comments to accompany songs. Warmly gave credit to fellow songwriters, and her accompanying musicians.

A great combination of old favorites, new songs and traditional hispanic numbers that were a tribute to Ms. Baez' Mexican heritage and the San Jose festival.

loved seeing joan again and hearing the old and new songs. She is still inspirational and so nostalgic for those of us who grew up with her in the sixties. I would liked for it to have been a bit longer with more of the oldies but understand that she is no longer a youngster and like the rest of us her endurance has it's limit. I loved the show and was moved by the old protest songs that took me back to my youth and the days of peace marches and protest during the civil rights movement . That was a magical and pivitol time it our country's history and Joan was monumental in the movement. I cried the first time I saw her in Tanglewood, Ma. in 1965 and tonoc I was once again moved to tears. I loved her!!

Joan baez was her usual mega singer, she has not lost any of her feeling, vibrancy and performance excellence. It was like listening to her in the early years
.
The band was outstanding, all strong musicians on their own. The song from "Dirt" the pianist, was beautiful. drums, bass and director got full marks intheir parts.
What was missing for me, was perhaps, a few dancers or a funny skit to introduce the songs and or weave them into a story telling or a walk through historical times. Her songs have history and political repercusions.
ANYHOW, I WOULD GO BACK IN A HEART BEAT TO SEE THIS AGAIN . and her mom should have come up on stage to take the applause.
I LOVE YOU JOAN,
Toneta

WELL, FOLKS, I DECIDED TO SPLURGE AND GET THE BEST SEATS MONEY COULD BUY--I WAS DRIVING A LONG WAY, RENDEZVOUSING WITH TWO FRIENDS, ONE OF WHOM WAS DRIVING AN EVEN LONGER WAY. I WAS ON THE ORCHESTRA PIT--SECOND ROW. TRAGICALLY, THERE WAS A WOMAN DIRECTLY BEHIND ME WHO WAS HECKLING JOAN--TELLING HER TO SING THE OLD SONGS AND GETTING DOWN-RIGHT BELLIGERENT ABOUT IT! THEN, WHEN SHE WAS SATISFIED WITH A PARTICULAR SONG, SHE'D START SINGING, LOUDLY, IN A BEYOND HORRIBLE VOICE AND SHE CONTINUED TO BEHAVE AS IF SHE WERE TOTALLY DRUNK AND/ OR SUFFERING FROM A TERRIBLE MENTAL DISORDER. JOAN WENT ON AS IF NOTHING WERE HAPPENING. I POLITELY ASKED THIS WOMAN TO BE QUIET, WHICH ONLY ESCALATED HER HORRIFIC BELLIGERENCE. FINALLY, I TOLD HER TO "SHUT-UP" WHICH MADE THINGS WORSE. THEN, THE PERSON WITH HER, PUNCHED HER--YOU COULD HEAR THE BLOW FROM SEVERAL ROWS AWAY. SHE REMAINED QUIET FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES; THEN STARTED IN ON THE GUY WITH HER, SAYING SOMETHING LIKE: "THAT'S IT; I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THAT; IT'S OVER . . . ." AND THEN, SHE FINALLY GOT UP AND LEFT. SADLY, IT WAS TOWARD THE END OF THE CONCERT. SO, I MUST SAY THAT THOUGH JOAN BAEZ IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE HUMAN BEINGS ON THE PLANET, AND SPENDING ALMOST $450.00 ON THREE TICKETS, I WAS TOTALLY DISTRACTED AND MORTIFIED BY THIS OUT-OF-CONTROL AUDIENCE MEMBER. THIS WAS TO BE A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO ESCAPE INTO A WONDERFUL EVENING WITH JOAN BAEZ, AND UNFORTUNATELY, I WAS PULLED INTO A DISMAL REALITY OF THE MISERABLE PERSON IN THE ROW BEHIND ME. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THE SITUATION WAS NOT HANDLED DIFFERENTLY BY THE STAFF. THAT SAID, I LOVED JOAN, BUT WILL SPEND MORE MONEY TO SEE HER AGAIN, HOPEFULLY SANS ANOTHER catastrophic SIDE-SHOW SUCH AS I DESCRIBED.

while her style has changed dramatically over the last 50 years of performing, she still gives an excellent performance. there were new songs as well as old. she also played a few of her songs in spanish, which she didn't do at the last few concerts i went to.

Joan Baez was still in good form and her musicuans were fabulous!
The "guests" however, at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, were terrible. People were late, they were up and down in their seats and in their rows. The ushers let people come and go throughout the performance, without regard for whether Ms. Baez was in the middle of a song or not. They used annoying flashlights which several times flashed in our faces.
There were catcalls from the audience and a dialog between the first three rows and Ms. Baez that none of the rest of us could hear. People were checking their cellphones throughout the performance -- bad behavior!

From the opening "De Colores" to the ending encore piece, La Maestra, Joan Baez, sang with the conviction and mastery that have marked her fifty year career. Her voice, remarkably agile, clear, and strong carried her and her adoring audience through a wide range of repertoire, including several selections in Spanish. She was onstage for an hour and a half; this in itself is a feat of stamina for any voice of any age.
Ms. Baez' band consisted of delightfully skilled musicians whose performances powerfully filled the pieces without overpowering. I loved the Spanish pieces! Baez' voice is perfect for this repertoire. Her voice is strong in the low register and clear as she does the characteristic flip into the higher register.
Brava, La Maestra! Thank you for your music, your example, your leadership. You have been and are a voice of our times!

Joan Baez was amazing as she sang both old and new songs. Her audience was with her throughout; chatting back and forth. She sang Spanish as well as English songs; acappella and along with her outstanding back-up band.

My husband and I have been Joan Baez fans forever and were really looking forwardt to seeing her perform. We were very disappointed. We felt like we were at a rehersal, not the real show. Her performance was very disjointed, and the constant changing and tuning of her guitars was painful to watch. Her voice is still ok, but she has lost her range. I liked the fact that she sang some of her songs in Spanish, but having to read the lyrics from a prompt board was distracting. For her last song she even read the words from a sheet of paper. Show certainly not worth $85 per ticket. Maybe it's time to give it up, Joan.

A tremendous concert. Joan Baez's voice is still clear and crisp while also being lush -- she protects herself on the high notes but still hits them -- and she puts on an excellent show with a great variety of songs. I enjoyed all the songs, not just the ones I knew. The arrangement of "Joe Hill" for the band was unusual and interesting. Her a cappella solos are still show stopping. The band is *very* talented and complements her vocal and instrumental gifts very well. Don't miss it.

Joan Baez is still Joan Baez and seeing her in person was magic. Sitting front and center we could barely hear her voice over the music from other band members, partaiculary the "Music Director." Perhaps further back the acoustics and sound system were better balanced. From our prime seats we wouldn't hear enough to understand half the words she was singing.
For a few numbers she sang unaccompanied, and that was great, even though the tune of the songs was "changed" from the versions recorded years ago.
There is so much history (musical, national and international) in which she was involved and I wished for more sharing of her memories and experiences. Her current music talent is not enough to provide sustaining entertainment.

This concert was wonderful. It was more well attended than I thought it would have been. My friend and I brought a blanket and sat in the "blanket only" section of the grounds. It was raining earlier in the day but as soon as Joan came on stage it was sunny and clear! She is an amazing singer and her impression of Bob Dylan was priceless. Was a bit odd when she was singing "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" and decided to add a few "f-bombs" to the song. Overall though, a great show.

I was disappointed with the concert. She did not sing enough. It was the shortest concert I have ever been to. Her voice was beautiful ,she just did not perform long enough. I enjoyed her interaction with the audience. But when I pay that much for a concert I expect 2 hours.
