I've loved Garth from the time that I was little (the first song I learned all the words to was The Thunder Rolls). When I heard that he was signing a contract to do bi-weekly showings in Vegas four years ago, my mom promised that when I graduated in 2012 we would drive down and see him. Although I ended up waiting until October, was too young to drink or gamble, bought tickets that were rows apart for my mom and I and spent 37 hours in the car driving down and back, this was BY FAR the best show I've ever seen and WELL WORTH the wait and cost.
This show (I refuse to call it a concert as it was too small of a venue with too much of a intimate feeling to be a "concert") was the highlight of my Vegas trip. It was a full two hours of nothing but Garth talking about the music that influenced him throughout his life. Humerus, entertaining and intimate, it felt as if we were sitting in their living room telling stories with one another rather than in the venue that we were. Although it was slightly more formal than I had expected, I enjoyed myself (as did everyone else) to say the least.
The only downside I found was that cameras and phones were not allowed. I wish I could have gotten pictures, however, it was much better to focus on the experience than on messing with a camera. The employees at the venue were immediately (and politely) on top of anyone who pulled out their phone (creating a distraction to those around them). What I originally viewed as a downfall ended up being quite a perk to the overall experience.
