What an incredible show! First of all the lineup with Marcia Ball was unique - we got to the Wilbur and she started right on time and rocked the house for 45 minutes or so. Quick break and then came Delbert with a phenomenal band - newbies I didn't recognize but spectacular - the keyboardist, trumpet and sax player were absolutely stellar, as was Glenn who filled the last hour with great harmonies and melodies and always, always, the blues.
And I love Delbert and Marcia Ball both for pushing their band members forward, letting them share the light, and selling them to a wider crowd. I've been going to Delbert's shows since before I was legal (I'm 54 now...) and he's always been a great show and generous about sharing the stage with his band - and when he might have taken a break, he didn't - he stayed right on stage making it clear to the audience that he was as impressed as we were.
The only complaint I would have is not seeing the two of them (Marcia and Delbert) together for more stuff....but I would sound whiny, given how great the show was overall.....
AND HE PLAYED FOR ALMOST THREE HOURS NON-STOP - ENDED AT MIDNIGHT.....
