Favorite moment: When Jeremy, the bassist, dedicated the song "Weights" to my friends and I who he met earlier in the evening!! (Thank you!) @
Setlist: I didn't keep track, not in order, maybe missing one or two: Qwerty Finger, Schoolin', MY KZ UR BF, Weights, Suffragette Suffragette, Tin, Final Form, Photoshop Handsome @
Opening act(s): mentioned above: Porcelain Raft, Dominant Legs, Johnny Flynn, The Chapel Club @
I had listened to a bit of each band the week before the show, giving their recording's a few spins each. But I came to see Everything Everything after hearing about them earlier this year. I personally believe that their debut album is the best debut this year and certainly one of the best albums to come out in 2010. Porcelain Raft and The Chapel Club are talented, no doubt, but not dynamic, each rather repetitive. I did like Porcelain Raft's voice and lyrics, too bad he didn't have a backing band. I was really bored by Johnny Flynn, he can certainly play, and his voice is very good, he has an "old soul," but I just wasn't inspired, it was middle of the road, typical folk stuff, yawn. I did really like Dominant Legs though, they have some nice songs and their voices go well together. But, Everything Everything torn it up, they were by far the superior band and put on the best show. Yes, I came to see them, but as I said I tried to give each band a fair listen before hand and I am open to new music, that being said, EE was by far the better performance. They were tight, they were flawless, and they had great stage presence!
