Featured Review
We all know Tool--the reclusive, thoughtful, meticulous rock band prone to incredible stage shows and records that will outlive us all. But they never cease to amaze me. The last time I saw Tool was three days after 9/11. Needless to say, the feeling in the air was one I'll never forget.
This time around, what will stick with me is the idea of Tool as a whole. Yes, Maynard, with his tattoos and Mohawk and crazy outfits and Hunter Thompson/Scott Weiland antics, is a huge part of why I love the band. But his adamant stance to not forefront himself as the lead man--to give credit where credit is due--is something we can all respect. Each member of the band rocks out in their own way and contributes to the notion that each part is essential to the whole.
The sound system was right on, with clear, loud, balanced music that didn't leave my ears ringing--even without earplugs. The animations, video, illustrations, lasers, lights, and overall ambiance was reminiscent of Pink Floyd in their heyday. I really have nothing bad to say about the show. Double thumbs up!

I thought the show was overall fantastic wish maynard would have shown himself but I like to believe that I have an understanding as to why he didn't.

The event was well structured. Hopping back between the two stages was a successful way of keeping patrons entertained. It seemed like space was not adequately being taken advantage of, however, as several areas remained barren and unused. Linkin park before Tool, who managed that atrocity? Surely, it would have been ideal to have SSSC prior to Tool instead of a mainstream radio-friendly band who had the gall to shamelessly promote individual side-projects! It was great when their mic momentarily went out. Atmosphere played a good set. An eclectic mix of artists that didn't seem to really fuse together, but nonetheless a great time. Thanks to Maynard for playing despite an injury.
