I had always wanted to see this play. I avoided it because I thought the subject matter would be too upsetting.
Then the movie came out. I wanted to see that too. Ultimately, I felt the play would be the lesser of 2 evils, emotionally speaking.
Mostly I wanted to see the play because of what I had heard about the puppetry;
i.e. the bits and pieces that were shown during advertisements.
It was impressive. I was not blown away as I had hoped.
The puppeteers do a great job, but must be visible due to the intrinsic nature of their jobs.
Unfortunately, I found this distracting. They ever 'disappeared' for me. In every scene I thought, Who's that guy holding the horse?
Who's that lady chasing that goose?
I am very glad I saw this play once. I probably will not see it again.
If you are interested, I strongly urge you to check it out. Most people enjoy it immensely.
Good luck
