Wonderful, I am totally going next year! It was unbelievably hot the day I went (Friday - like 110 degrees) but the artists still played and played well with their love of what they do glowing! We first went to Tyron Wells, whom was phenomenal! His message to the crowd made me tear up! Then we made our way over to the Sun Country stage at which we stayed the remainder of the night. We only got to see Mat Kearney for a short moment because he had to stop due to rain (which was a HUGE bummer, but what are you going to do..) then the Head & The Heart played which made me fall in love with their music, more in love than what I already had been. And to top it off, was the amazing Train who played with the crowd loving it even with the storm rolling in! So glad they played as much as they did until they were told they had to stop due to severe weather. Also, the seating was awesome! You could move up wherever you could reach. It was open to stand wherever you wanted! Loved the freedom! The crowd was very fun & they had big screens set up so you could see the artists even if you couldn't see their faces live.

This was my first time at the block party, and I was impressed. I got to the Avett Brothers stage early to catch The Lumineers. What made the experience so enjoyable was the camaraderie of the crowd - it felt like I was watching a show at a backyard BBQ. Of course, the cheese fries helped with that. Overall, I had a smashing good time, and it was almost as good as reading a book. . almost. :)

The idea for Basilica Block Party is right: bring a bunch of great bands together to perform outdoors.

The problem is: many fans are there to drink and socialize, making it hard to hear the music. Unless you arrive to a show before it starts, you're likely to be in the back with a terrible (if any) view.

The shows are spread apart and overlapped so that it's hard to see much of any band if you want to see them all; then you can't arrive early or stay late for the best songs.

The need for drink tickets is annoying, and the drinks are subpar. I didn't have any of the food this year. The concert was more of a headache than enjoyable, so I won't be attending again, even if a band I love is playing.

Friday night with storms threatening, TRAIN played new songs and ballads, plus all the fan favorites to an overflowing crowd on the Sun Country Main Stage at the Basilica Block Party. Their songs were amazing, their showmanship outstanding, and their connection to their fans & the crowd remarkable. This evening outdoor concert was fantastic!

After the concert, cut short slightly by the weather, myself and other "meet & greet" VIP fans were ushered into one of the trailers to meet and get our picture taken with TRAIN: Pat Monahan, Jimmy Stafford, and Scott Underwood.

Opening band The Lumineers were awesome! The music was spot on and they really seemed to appreciate the audience!
Fitz and The Tantrums know how to get the audience pumped up! The music was great and the adrenaline was pumping!
The Avett Brothers were also so appreciative of the audience! They played so many wonderful tunes! They know how to rock out! My personal favorites were their new single, "Live and Die" and also an oldie "Pretty Girl at the Airport." They were also so gracious to take pics with fans after the soundcheck that afternoon! Love them!
*I would not recommend getting the VIP passes. I had never been before, and mistakenly thought they would give you an advantage. But the seats are so far back from the main stage. I wanted to be right up front, so my VIP tix were no better than GA! Overall a wonderful time!!

The evening got off to a slow start with the rain. Once that stopped it was beautiful and the oppressive heat had diminished also. The only stage we visited was the Sun Country stage. Two of the three bands where great (first was canceled due to the rain). It’s a great venue for a concert, plenty of food and drink to be had.

I've heard so much about this event from over the years and was unable to attend. However this year was amazing and I'm glad i blocked this out on my calendar to see the Lumineers and Fitz and The Tantrums. I can't wait to see who is coming next year. I will be buying a two day VIP Pass.

The line up wasn't the best. Train is so...juvenille and annoying in concert. I like their songs, but never want to see them again. Cake was great. Didn't see Mat Kearney, which ruined the night. The biggest disappointment is that we bought $150 VIP tickets believing that the VIP sections would be at each stage, with the food and drink that was promised. It was totally misrepresented. There was only one VIP area that was way the hell over on the other side of the grounds from the main stage. If you wanted the food and drink that you paid $150 for, you needed to sit in a little area and not see the bands you wanted to see. Even regular priced tickets are too much for this venue. You can't see anything at the main stage unless you're way upfront. I will never go back unless they bring someone unbelievably great. I'm not holding my breath. Blah!!

I had a great time at Basilica.... the bands were awesome!!! I enjoyed being outdoors listening to the music & people watching :)

More vendors would have been nice, as the lines were very long for some things (especially water!).

Not as great of bands as other years I've wanted to go-or maybe I'm not as hip!

Drink and Food tickets were annoying to have to purchase.

Weren't able to physically see the A Bros, but the sound was good. Flat concrete was not the best floor setting, but a beautiful view.

Food and Drink reasonably priced.

Keep it rollin!!

I love each artist that performed at the Basilica Block Party. When it comes to the artists/bands, everyone did amazing! I was able to see Mat Kearney, Imagine Dragons, and Train. Mat Kearney's set was unfortunately cut short because of the pouring rain. This put a damper on my night because I was extremely excited to see him play specific songs and I was unable to. Although, this was no one's fault; merely the fault of the weather. Mat Kearney was able to play wonderfully before the storm though. My favorite song of his was when he played 'Breathe In, Breathe Out'. He played it acoustic and it was absolutely beautiful. Imagine Dragons made everything better! The lead singer had a large stand up drum that was both visually appealing and creative sounding. Imagine Dragons have such a fun time on stage and they are so grateful to be there which I really respect. Imagine Dragons' song 'Radioactive' and 'Demons' are ones I would recommend to anyone. Both are super creative and extremely original. Train played a great mix of his older songs and his newer songs. I loved seeing 'Drops of Jupiter' played live. It brought me back to so many childhood memories!

The Block Party was a blast! It was a bummer that it rained during the first performance, but it didn't affect too many people. Waited out the rain and started up again. I will definitely go again! Lots of different food vendors! Great performers! I watched the 3 mainstage performers, which were so awesome live! Mat Kearney (who got rained out about halfway in), The Head and the Heart (which I seriously love!), and Train, who obviously did fantastic! The rain hit right as we got to the car. Perfect timing!

The closest most of the crowd could get to the stage would have been a pretty good view of the band. However the soundboard area was setup up in a way that blocked the entire stage, it had a big white tent that literally blocked the view of the band on stage. I am so upset that I wasted 80 dollars to get beer spilled on me, have people falling on me and not even see my favorite band.

This was my first time at the Basilica Block Party in Minneapolis, and I was thoroughly impressed! Very fast lines for ID bracelets, food/bev tix, and lots of stands for food/bev, so you didn't have to wait long for your "needs". and the music was awesome!! I was able to see The Head and the Heart, Train, The Boys and the Barrels, The Lumineers, Fitz & the Tantrums, and The Avett Brothers. I loved it all! The Head and the Heart and Avett Brothers is what I came for, but I was pleasantly surprised by Train! Not only did they sound good, but Pat Monahan was extremely interactive and generous with the crowd (took people's cameras out of crowd and snapped a photo of himself in front of them, signed and threw out t-shirts, brought fans up on stage to dance during songs, and all while performing!) - very cool. i guess my only complaints are that i was bummed that O.A.R. was performing at the same time as avett brothers (i wanted to see both), and i wish i could have seen more of the bands. Anyhow, very fun, I would do it again!

This night was unforgettable and one that will be repeated in years to come as I make the block party a wonderful tradition. Everything was great, the location, the food vendors, the different stages, the 105 degrees and pouring rain. Most of all, of course, the musicians made the night. Mat Kearney was a good ole' ball, until the rain came and cut him off short. Imagine Dragons were fantastic to the umpteenth degree, the entire crowd so into the crazy power-pop-rock music they had to offer. The performance made me even more of a huge Dragon fan. Cake, the dessert for tonight, also rocked the stage, but differently. They involved the audience wonderfully, having us chanting against each other, and spoke wise words about America's toubles and solutions. The live performance was by far better than listening to their recordings, and the audience was even more vamped up. I was front row for it, which made the concert wayyyyyyyy unbelievably better.
