Tycho's sounds is huge. Just absolutely beautiful soundscapes backed by his aesthetically planned and wonderfully executed iso50 visual displays. The live band was something I was slightly nervous for, as I had seen several other artists (i.e Toro and Washed Out) who use a band for their live performance, which generally changes the feel for a lot of the bedroom sound production. However, I thought the instruments were used in a tasteful manner. Although not as tight as it could have been, as there were definitely areas that need to be cleaned up, it still sounded great.
The thing I loved most about finally getting to see Tycho was the intimacy and connectedness of this show. When you listen to this on record, you may think that God himself is conjuring up these moments of audio bliss, and then you see the man behind it all on stage. Believe it or not Tycho is human, and that's the coolest part; That a mortal person could make these songs and play them live while he is feeling sick and still owning the stage.
Tycho will get bigger and bigger, and anyone who was in Brooklyn on Sunday is lucky to have had a glimpse of this set.
