A good friend of mine recommended that I go and see A Christmas Story. As a single woman in my 60s, I usually avoid Broadway around Holiday time. I do not like the sappy stories and the usual elves and Santa jokes.
This show was such a treat! The cast was marvelous. Dan Lauria was fantastic as the narrator. Everyone in the show was perfectly cast. The bloodhounds were especially endearing. Lol
Johnny Rabe but as Ralphie stole the show. His stage presence is unbelievable. John Bolton and Erin Dilly played the parents to perfection. Caroline O'Connor was hilarious as the teacher. A Christmas Story is a perfect treat for all ages.
The music will have you singing your way out of the theater.
What a happy way to start the holiday season.

A Christmas Story was already one of my holiday favorites and I always appreciated the humor of it. It wasn't until the genius pair of Pasek and Paul added their magical touch that I discovered the heartwarming story of family that emerges from this show. This is a must see! Get out and see it now!

My son-in-law and daughter told me if I did nothing else while in the city in December I have to see this show with my 10 year old daughter. It was absolutely phenomenal, I still 2 months later can remember the joy and amazement from watching this show. The performances were incredible, constantly kept my attention without over stimulation.

"A Christmas Story" is my sister's favorite holiday movie so I have easily passively watched it 100 times over the years. When the time came to spend some holiday time in Manhattan and to watch a show, my choice was easy.

This show did not disappoint. It was the right mix of narrative and song, dance and action. The stage settings were engaging and easy to comprehend - school room looked like one, the family driving in a car was believable, etc. The actors were first-rate. The theater was clean, comfortable and sold some keepsakes at good prices.

I recommend this musical to anyone looking for a holiday show in the City.

For a family that loves the movie and knows every line, this was the best gift I could have given them. Parents and children LOVED it and the grandparents (us) LOVED it too. This production had everything-music, dancing, comedy, top-notch acting (the children were especially wonderful), real dogs and yet it was uncomplicated . As a person who enjoys Broadway shows, I thought this was better than some of the big-name shows. It would be wonderful to bring this back again next year. I would definitely go see it again!

The Broadway production of A Christmas Story really does deserve a major award! We were so impressed with the performances of Johnny Rabe (Ralphie), Zac Ballard (Randy), and John Bolton ("The old man")! When Ralphie lost his chaps during the performance, Johnny didn't miss a beat; he threw them off stage and continued as if nothing happened. Soon after he returned on stage with chaps tightly attached! Loved his singing and dancing during "Ralphie to the Rescue" especially the slow motion part saving his girl! We also loved Zac's impression of Randy- what a great voice match! Kudos to the casting director. Hats off to Erin Dilly as well; what a great representation of a mother and all that she does. I really appreciated the writer's choice to add this part into the play. Another scene that was very entertaining was the children's performance with Miss Shields in "You'll Shoot your Eye Out" - especially the very young tap dancer- he was amazing! I have to mention Pete and Lilly- chasing the old man, stealing the turkey, barking and howling. It has to be a huge challenge to bring live animals into a broadway production, but John Rando did it with finesse! We all just wanted to run up and hug those lovable pups! But I think by far our favorite part was John Bolton's performance in "A Major Award." He was excellent! Everyone did a fabulous job and we were hysterical laughing at the leg lamps dancing scene! Loved, loved, loved it!!!
Who would have thought you could turn in a TV movie into such a fantastic musical...and a perfectly entertaining and exciting one at that! We love coming to New York from DC to see Broadway shows; they never fail to outdo all of our expectations!

For a true lover of the original 1983 movie, "A Christmas Story-The Musical" far surpassed all of my expectations !

The songs were funny and touching, the cast top notch !
Dan Lauria was the perfect Jean Shepherd.
The large ensemble production numbers "A Major Award" and "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" were sensational ! (cudos to John Bolton, and Caroline O'Connor)
And where did they find little tapper Luke Spring ? WOW !

The production ( scenery ,costuming and the clever staging ) was pure MAGIC !
I took my whole family ( wife, two grown daughters in their late 20's and their significant others), and everyone loved it.
We laughed and cried throught the entire show.
I told everyone I know they must see it, even if you've never seen the movie.

Hope it returns to Broadway for many holiday seasons to come!
It deserves A MAJOR AWARD !

We loved the performance very much! It was the most accurate to the movie that we'd ever seen in a stage performance. The actors portrayed the characters very well. The talent was superior, especially in the children who've not had that many years to perfect their craft! The singing and dancing was a total delight. The best Christmas present that we could have giving our children (and ourselves) in a long time!

I was not expecting such a fun show with such catchy tunes!
They were able to take a classic Show and make it a Broadway
Muscial that everyone should come and see at the holidays!

I loved the movie, and didn't know how they would adapt it to a Broadway musical. I thought the show would probably be ok, and just a nice afternoon with the family. I was pleasantly surprised. Every minute of the show was terrific. The children were amazing. Loved the dogs.

The show was great, as was the Lunt-Fontanne theater. We've been to shows at other venues, most notably Radio City Music Hall, but this was a different kind of experience. The theater is much smaller, with lower ceilings. This makes for a more intimate experience.

The show was excellent, the cast were talented and energetic despite this being the last showing of the season. I would see this show again which, coming from me, is saying something.
