2nd time wife and saw the show in Chicago, went last year and there were 3 gospel singers taking turns singing beautiful music for 20 minutes and the a 15 minute set of kinda funny guy a 10 min break and show was all three were sitting on stools talking off one another and it was hilarious! So this time we figured we could 20 min late and miss the warmup, WRONG, we missed 3/4 of John and walked in on his angel raping joke. He was great! Then Hal and he was great! John refers tto his notes, Hal is impersonating a trex hunting a jew and a Palestinian hiding in a cave sharing hummus and chitting their pants, hilarious! best part of the show.
Then Steph comes out, recognizes people in the audience only regular listeners would think is funny for 10 minutes, reads out of trib article about GOP, takes pics of her crotch, reads off a spiral notebook, giggling at her own jokes. The worst part was literally 20 min of open mic for folks to ask a dumb question. Bad for our guests who dont watch the show, no context not funny. We left early just as they were returning to take the 3 stools. I couldn't take one more question from the audience. Everyone around me was squirming the non screened questions to end. We thought it was going to be 4 or five questions, I lost count. I wish we could have seen the final act, I'm sure that was great. I think Hal and John carried the show, skip the 20 questions and make humor that doesnt require you to be a regular listener to think it was funny. This coming from a regular listener who knows what a mook is when she refers to replacing her mooks with the ones in the audience that came up with better material than she had. Those were Steph words not mine in show last night. The humor on the radio is the interplay
