This dude shreds! The show was incredible, enough that I went to see him the following night. Best part, he played a different set each night. He oozes with soul when he plays. Watching him create solos on stage is inspiring. I got to witness rock n roll history in the making. GO SEE HIM LIVE!!!
The Bowery Ballroom is one of the best venues in NYC. Small, intimate, and great sound!

Gary Clark, Jr.'s solos turn a good song from his CD into a mind altering experience live. Great to see him up close an in person. He looked like he was having as much fun as the audience was. Best part: there was nothing between me and his Fender amp.

I saw Gary Clark, Jr. at Bridge school and was impressed. Seeing him at the Fillmore playing electric left me feeling even more impressed. I would definitely see him again.

I normaly wuld never write a review but this lad is i feelis one of the most gifted under appreciated muscians around at the minute!! I seen him in a small venue in annapalis prob about a year ago he effortlessly played a small set and he was brilliant!! Was excited to listen to his new album which i honestly liked but thought he touched on different styles i wasn,t sure suited, however after hearing him play them live and alittle different to on the album he was great, his band to was different to before and they realy had a great vibe togeather id reccommend any guitar player or music lover to go and be inspired by them they were truely a inspiration to me thx lads

Saw Gary Clark, Jr at the Bowery Ballroom on Monday night and Brooklyn Bowl on Tuesday night this week. Both shows were great. Go see him now in a small venue if you have the chance - he's going to get big.

After briefly seeing Gary at Bonnaroo this past summer, and hearing his new album and other tracks, I had a decent idea what he was about, and what he was capable of. But seeing him in a setting like the Bowery Ballroom, my favorite venue in NYC, was unreal. His talent was on full, intimate display, and he clearly connected with everybody in the audience. I feel like this was one of those shows where, in 5-10 years, I'll be able to brag, and tell friends that, "I saw Gary in the Bowery Ballroom."

Gary delivered and got better and better as the evening progressed. I am in the camp of those feeling parts of his album sounded a bit overproduced, but performed live this eve they sounded a whole lot grittier ( than the recording ) and actually made for a nice contrast to his older material.

He's a tremendously talented player. But he set a groove his band couldn't follow. The bass drowned out Gary's lead. The audience was there to hear him not somr thumping bass. Mixing was poor. The highlight was Gary's version of 3 O'clock Blues. Not even BB himself could play it with more soul. The phrasing ws brilliant. He needs a band that can play at his level and let him lead.

I was very excited to see him for the first time, and I wasn't disappointed. His cover of Muddy Waters/Jimi Hendrix' Catfish Blues was a highlight. His guitar playing is very engaging. I would say he could use the stage more.
