Dark stage. Lots of smoke.
Boom!
Lights ON. Voices ON. Music ON. (Love that sort of opening--raises the hair on my arms.
High points:
Bottom of the River, with members of the Phi Beta Sigma Step Team streaming up the aisles and onto the stage, carrying the very lanterns they carried in the music video. (Said lanterns sold in the lobby after the show at fifty bucks a pop to benefit a Durham food bank--they were gone in a heartbeat.)
Liz rocking a solo to a sold-out crowd (on her bucket list). Sweet that it was on a home town stage.
The unaccompanied original band members in their non-amplified encore. Their amazing vocals could finally shine. (Bringing me to my only negative comment--the show was far over-amplified, distorting Delta Rae's sound. Even on the one number accompanied by only the strings, the amplification reminded me of blown speakers. This compliments some bands, but truly detracts from Delta Rae's tight musicianship.)
The silent auction (again, benefitting a Durham food bank) of Delta Rae's original trash can, signed by the band members. It was up to $1800 by the time I left.

Favorite moment: Her former pre-school students giving Miss Liz a bouquet in the lobby after the show. @
Opening act(s): I'm sorry can't remember their names. Very accomplished musicians with well written songs. Much too angst-ridden for this over-the-drama middle-aged listener. @
