'Liked the music being backed by the old photos. ' Would have loved an occassional ethnic dance. We traveled 190 miles (round trip) and felt it was a good evening out.

Using the songs that the emigrants who came to America were singing, this play is like no other play. You felt the bittersweet leave-taking, were reminded of the harsh trip over, and heard of the difficulties of assimilation. Then you rejoiced when their dream of prospering in America was achieved. Every singer had an accent of the country they were representing. It was amazing- and made it all the more believable. Also amazing was how 5 musicians could play just the right sounds- from a penny whistle to a bagpipe.I can't understand how so much work could go into only a 4 performance run. The play deserves more. The audience truly enjoyed the event and many stayed for a Q and A afterwards. I hope it can find sponsorship for a much longer run.

We were so blessed by this incredible concert. Both my husband and I had grandmothers that came to America as young women and this show really helped us sense what their experiences may have been like. The songs in English and many other languages plus images and words were integrated in a powerful way. The vocalists and musicians were extraordinary. We can't wait to hear what the future of Steerage Song will be. We highly recommend this to everyone.

It was an excellent portrayal of what the immigrants went through coming to the US from the late 1800s to 1924. The songs where wonderful and the singers did a wonderful job singing them with the appropriate accents. Dan Chuinard and Peter Rothstein should be congratulated. I recommend it become a traveling show.

A beautiful story of immigrants coming to America through Ellis Island. A rich history told with songs, short writings, and photographs. The sadness of leaving the old country combined with the excitement of a new life in America was poignant and touching. I loved the staging and all of the singers/actors were absolutely amazing. I appreciated the fact that all ages were represented so well. I don't know when I've witnessed such a uniformly fabulous cast; the musicians were also enomously talented. I loved this show - LOVED IT - and I will remain hopeful it continues to find an audience. I know I would go again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

This is such a fantastic production all the way around. This is one of those shows that not only should, but needs to go on the road. I picked up several programs after the show to send to family in NYC and Pittsburgh and Winnipeg.
I truly appreciate all the research, historically and musically, that went into this production.

We had seen Hero's done by Ann Reed and Dan and thought was just excellent. I was amazed. Baxton has the personality of a proffessional actor. They must do this many other places such as Duluth and Rochester plus thoughout the nation. It really makes you think about your heritage the video should be made available to high school AP history classes and college classes.

Enjoyed the evening totally....from the ethnic street dancers to the whole show. I would vote to offer this MANY more times... in all ways, it was outstanding! The visuals, the voices, the musicians and the carefully crafted script.

It was one of the best performances we have seen in a long time, and we see many. It was very emotional, and because of the immigration issues that are going on now, also very contemporary and thought provoking. The music was just wonderful.

Steerage Song was a pleasure - well put-together, fabulous cast that worked together flawlessly. Minimal but appropriate choreography, great voices, marvelous band, and the most wonderful Dan Chouinard. Many songs were familiar, others new; spoken word sections brief enough to be OK, and helped set the stage for the songs.

I loved the music - its variety, and the performing of it. I wished it might have had more of a story - explaining the pros and cons of all the immigration that happened during that time. In the few pieces that that was talked about, it was clear that many issues are not very different from today - Personally I love learning things from history so this was a good start and a fun way to do it - just wanted a tad more.
