I was looking forward to hearing this band, live. I picked up their demo at Cafe Nation in Brighton and their catchy tunes have been stuck in my head ever since. After the show, I decided I was more impressed with their demo than their performance.
I will admitt that I was dancing, they played well and had great energy but I thought they could have been "tighter." I also felt like their set was too short.
I can't say it was entirely the band though. The sound guy wasn't doing so well. The first band sounded fine but I could barely hear the vocals during Freezepop's performance. The music was just too loud. The venue isn't huge and blasting the music is only going to distort the music and vocals. I could hear the bands clearer when I was out back having a smoke. Sometimes less is more.
