I have been a big Childish Gambino fan since I first heard him rap with MC Chris back in his Poindexter days and always wanted to catch a show. On his most recent tour, I missed his performance in my hometown of Kansas City, so I decided to do a weekend trip out to LA to see the last show on the Camp tour at the Hollywood Palladium. Needless to say, he more than lived up to my high expectations.
I've been to quite a few rap shows in my time, and I can say from experience that Childish Gambino's performance is truly one of a kind. He plays with a live band, engages the crowd with his articulate performance style, and maintains an energy that is electric. You can tell that he loves what he is doing, and the fans are the ones who truly benefit from that.
I loved that he not only covered most of his "Camp" album, but also added in some newer/older stuff - covering some of his Culdesac mixtape, as well as encoring with songs from his most recent mixtape, Royalty. I would pay a lot of money to see him again, and I, for one, cannot wait until he's back on tour again.
