If you're looking for a Christmas extravaganza, this is the one to attend in Charlotte. 80 singers in a giant Christmas Tree structure, dressed like ornaments - yeah, it's cheddar, but kind of fun if you can let go of your inner cosmopolitan-ness. There's dancing, puppetry, sets, costumes, lighting and more.
What it ISN'T is on a par with the Rockettes show or any Christmas spectacular in any major metro area. While it's about the best Charlotte has to offer, I'm afraid one shouldn't go in with very high expectations.
What it also ISN"T is a good choral concert. The singing is fine, but if you're looking for inspiring music-making, this is not the place to go. The acoustics in Ovens Auditorium force the Tree to be highly amplified, which is never a good thing for large groups of singers.
The Singing Christmas Tree for KIDS is a lot of fun and one of the best holiday bargains for entertainments for kids.
