Favorite moment: The final scene when Floristan discovers the true identity of Fidelio. I've rarely laughed so hard at an opera performance. @

Excellent performance well worth the investment of time and money. Superb venue, comfortable with excellent sound.
Perhaps a pre-event gala dinner in the future?

I was expecting a traditional production but was blown away by Edmonton Opera's fresh approach. The performances were amazing, and the costumes transposed the opera into a bright contemporary setting: Tokyo's Harajuku district! Overall it was a perfect pre-Valentine's Day night out!

I saw La Boheme for the first time performed by the Edmonton Opera last weekend. I enjoyed the production but it wasn't not as moving as I'd hoped. No complaints really about the voices although it seemed some of the artists were holding back somewhat. Set design was pleasing and it was well staged, with some visually interesting crowd scenes. From the second balcony, perhaps some of the personal power/charisma of the artists was diminished!
