I've been to many concerts. When Led Zeppelin disbanded due to the untimely death of Jason's dad, John Bonham, I was a senior in highschool and they were the best band hands down. It stunned us all back then.
I am a drummer as well and have followed the careers of many drummers, especially Peart. What Jason has done is to remind everyone what most drummers (if they are honest) already know. John Bonham is THE GODFATHER of not only progressive rock, but all rock that utilizes complex drumming and percussion to anchor the band. Rush, Kansas, Metalica, Tool, Vol Beat, Pearl Jam, and on and on. They all climbed on to the shoulders of John Bonham. Jason has very effectively picked up his dad's torch by becoming just as accomplished as a drummer. He has assembled a band that not only understands the technical side of Led Zeppelin, but exudes the essence of the most influential yet largely forgotten rock band of all time. Utilizing not only musical entertainment, but video and stories interwoven as well to amuze, and yes even at times tug at the heart strings of not only our memories of a more magical time, but how that time was for him as a child, boy, and young man of a man that helped change and shape the music world.
Jason told us about John Bonham from a son's side. As he says, we probably knew the "Led Zeppelin" side of him better then he did. But with his unique perspective, he fills in the blanks of what we don't know. It was very touching, inspiring, and an absolutely freaking kick ass concert.
