Anamanaguchi - best show ever

Favorite moment: A few guys crowd-surfed WITH the light tube that was part of their light setup, that was cool. @

Setlist: Mostly their new stuff (Meow, EVERYTHING EXPLODES), but some old stuff too (my skateboard will go on, jetpack blues). @

Overall it was an amazing show, and anamanaguchi were great. Definitely recommend seeing them when they're headlining, since the crowd being into it is what really makes it awesome.
The staff seemed to be surprisingly okay with the stage-diving/crowd-surfing, as long as they didn't mess up the equipment when they were on stage.
I wish we weren't waiting around so long, between waiting outside to get in and the openers (show was supposed to "start" at 7:30, didn't get inside till like 8:15, anamanguchi didn't come on till 10:30), but once they came on it was worth it, if only their set was a bit longer.

Location:Fort Lauderdale, FL

Anamanaguchi are a great band to dance, jump around, move erratically, or just nod your head to. They are the Man... or Astro-man? of instrumental chiptune rock bands. Great stage presence and visuals. They were obviously having a great time, and very humble and appreciative of their audience who adored them. Very personable guys, not at all "rock stars." They played their songs absolutely great, very professional. A broken string incident was quickly resolved with the help of Hot Sugar's guitar - who by the way was also an intriguing artist to watch. While I forget the name of the first act (I think it was George & Jonathan?), they made surprisingly good electronic music. You can't quite put a name or genre to what they do, but it is strongly evocative of imagery, and they provided some good visuals to enhance that. Pictureplane however is musical babyfood - sorry dude, but at least you tried.

Youtube doesn't do this band justice. Not really a bubble gum techno/rock person (or techno person at all) but these guys rock.

Everything about this show was fantastic! The venue was well laid-out and felt straight out of Scott Pilgrim, our seats on the balcony were awesome, the crowd was amazing, and the show itself was incredible. Both openers were a lot of fun and Anamanaguchi themselves are unbelievably good live. I would absolutely come back to this venue in the future, and you KNOW I'm going to be all over any Anamanaguchi shows that come anywhere near me from now on!

I've been to eight concerts before this one and this was by far the best. The first of the two opening acts (Talk to Animals) was great (the second, MATH the Band, not so much), but when Anamanaguchi came onstage. The crowd went crazy, and even with an unexplainable extreme pain in my angle I couldn't help but jump around and get pushed around by the crowd. The band played everything to perfection, interacted well with the audience, and even covered an M83 song (Don't Save us from the Flames) for an encore! That really made the concert. I'll definitely see them again, but maybe when it's not hotter outside than it is in the venue.

This trio of acts were perhaps some of the best to combine into one show. With similar but not too similar of a sound the three bands, Talk to Animals, Math the Band, and Anamanaguchi worked well together to create a thriving electronic atmosphere that energized the crowd. Despite being in Williamsburg, the venue was not over-crowded with hipsters that don't move to the music at all and managed to be packed without feeling overcrowded. Also, there was a bar downstairs where you could ask for tap water and it was FREE.
