The show was good overall but I think it could have been better. Ian seemed "off" a bit. Sort of pissed off and bitter somehow. I didn't feel he was really focused on his singing and some of the vocals fell short as a result of this. After getting over the initial excitement of seeing a great band from the 80's, i felt like I wanted to hear more tracks from the Electric album rather than all the filler moments from Love.

It was awesome to finally see the Cult live. I like their new album, and I was happy that they played a few tracks from that along with all of the favorites. I love the Cult and it pains me to say it, but I think they may have done themselves a disservice by having Against Me! as an opener.

Going in, I was not familiar with Against Me! and I sorely underestimated their popularity. Many many people in the audience seemed to know every word of the entire Against Me! set and the band gave such a high-energy performance. Against me! was amazing and really got the crowd engaged. I thought they were great,even with not knowing any of their music. They are just a very talented, high-energy band. As amazing as the Cult is, they do not engage the crowd the same way that the opening band did. Even though both bands put on a great performance in their own right, it still felt a bit like the energy in the building peaked with Against Me! and then slowed down a bit for the Cult.

I highly recommend the Cult and I am really impressed by how great they sound. Billy Duffy is amazing. I think that Against Me! is just a really hard act to follow. The Cult set also went quickly, I think they were on for about 75 minutes.

Oh, and the other opener, The Icarus Line? I was not the least bit impressed. The lead singer was trying way too hard by trying to say provocative things to the crowd and deliberately holding the microphone up to the speakers to create feedback. The ringing feedback sounds were so annoying. People were covering their ears. Someone in the crowd yelled to him, "C'mon, man!!" to get him to stop. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea, or maybe it was just bad. As far as I can tell, it's just bad.

Full disclosure: I'm a die-hard long time Cult fan

This was a great concert overall! The Cult put together a perfect setlist! From the raw new songs, on their latest album, "Choice of Weapon" like The Wolf, For The Animals, Honey from a Knife all the way back to Horse Nation, and Spiritwalker they had songs for every Cult fan! I love their new album as well as the recent "capsules".
The show went too fast, I wish they could have played longer but I'm sure they are considering playing all the classics as to not disappoint their fans.
There were two opening acts, I'm sorry I missed the first opening band but Against Me was pretty good.

Billy and John were really awesome. Ian, naturally, can't sustain the long notes on tour, but that's always the case, right?

Great show, all in all, but could have done without the blatant marketing to head to the merch booth to buy the new album. Big turnoff.

Wow. Seems like you take a gamble when you go see The Cult perform live. it can be a hit or miss proposition.
The June 20th show at the Dallas House of Blues was definitely a hit! All of the members appeared to be in a really good mood (this is key for a Cult show!). I haven't seen the band this tight since Dec 2001 (Beyond Good and Evil tour). I believe this was a better show than the Love Live tour!

They played 4 new songs and they were brilliant. All were high energy and very tight. Those new songs were written to play live! Amazing.

The bonus of the evening was the pair of tunes that they played from Dreamtime--Horse Nation and Spiritwalker.
