The show was amazing. Trombone Shorty and his band are amazing musicians and blew me away. I don't typically follow his style of music but it was such a good performance that my entire group (who typically listen to top 40 music) was completely awestruck. Trombone Shorty is one of the most talented performers I have ever seen.

AMAZING!!! What a great entertainer and talented musician. I knew his music and had a great time, but I took a friend who didn't know who he was and she enjoyed easily as much if not more then I did! From the moment he took the stage he rocked it and had the audience dancing. I always compare Los Angeles audiences vs. New Orleans audiences - LA the crowds can be kind of quiet and not participate and as much as other cities, but LA showed up Saturday night and gave back to Trombone Shorty all the love and enthusiasm he gave to us. What an incredible entertainer!!!!

I've seen this man, and the band several times. They have NEVER disappointed. In fact, this weekend I wound up going to both shows. Completely different show each night. I went each night with friends who I had brought to previous shows and are now die hard fans themselves. In fact, the buzz in the audience is usually, "have you seen him before?".
A young, but very talented and tight group out of New Orleans. Shorty is a natural showman who commands the stage as well as highlighting his band members. He is vibrant, energetic, fun. His talents on the trombone are (I think) actually surpassed with his trumpet playing. With both he is incredible, versatile and precise. The ability to go from very high range notes, to low in a phrase! Amazing control of his chops! The music is uptempo, funky, with an occasional r and b, or rock cover; New Orleans classic or jazz standard thrown in. Most is original music.
As always he had the crowd energized and loving it within minutes. He is gracious, yet confident.
I really can't describe how fun and talented these guys are. But if you EVER get the chance to see them....do yourself a favor. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Robert Randolph and Trombone Shorty both put on a great show. The sound was good and the raptor preshow was very cool.
The beer was VERY overpriced (7$ for a faux pint of Bud lite!!) and the line for the beer were way too long. You miss half the show waiting in line for beer.

This was my fourth time seeing Robert Randolph and he was unbelievable. He and his cousins Marcus and Danyel are one of the greatest power-trios in modern rock, and they delivered a truly magnificent, raucous, creative, titanic-sounding performance which still makes me feel the spirit just to think about it. They always have at least one other musician, this time a guitarist/keyboardist, and Robert's sister who is a singer, and both of them were excellent also. This was a better show than last time he played PDX. Trombone Shorty was great also, a very lively and highly talented group of younger guys who had a unique and powerful mix of hard rock and New Orleans funk & soul. Shorty himself is one of the best front-men I've seen in a long time.

These are two of the most talented guys out there right now. Phenomenal musicians, and TS has a voice that won't quit. Both put in high-energy sets. Only downside was the hard curfew at the Zoo, clearly TS wanted to rock the arena with one more blow-out. But nobody was complaining. Was great to hear 'Hurricane Season' live. If they come to your town, don't miss either of these bands.
