One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Sidestepper casts aside the the mundane for a road less traveled through their tightly woven tapestry of Columbian sounds and electronic enhanced beats. It was physically impossible to avoid dancing to these contagious sounds although a few tried, but by then end of the show everyone was gyrating to the Afro-Latin beats. The venue offered a very personal connection with the music. The downer was that the show was advertised as having a three tiered cost structure (like any good concert go-er I chose the most expensive seating rate) and assigned seating when there was none. To their credit, Cal-State is recognizing the error and will comp you a ticket to the upcoming Kinky show ( I believe on Feb. 27, 2010), another can't-mis-show.

This group rarely comes to the states, so when it does, you need to make sure you go!! Sadly but luckily for us, not too many people know of them, so not enough tickets were sold to open the main theater. The show was instead held in what they call the Intimate Theater. It was, there was only about ten rows of seating! The place was moving from the opening song. The music makes you move, whether you want to or not. The two grannies to our left never stopped dancing!! They sound even better live and project such a high energy. I feel very fortunate to have atteneded such an intimate show by a band that is rarely seen in this country.
