Shen Yun is an incredible production not to be missed. Although show presents Chinese dance, music and song, the scope of the show is cross-cultural with it's exquisite choreography, beautiful costumes and top notch production values. This production is a rare treat the entire family can enjoy; Shen Yun is a spectacle for the senses and a feast for the soul.

Featured Review
Outstanding dance, orchestra and singing performances from start to finish and both emcees were spot on with their insights and linguistic skills in english and mandarin. The skills of all the performers was outstanding, styles and costumes were brilliant to see and the backdrops and landscapes brought the audience to see parts of China they probably have never experienced. We enjoyed all of the entertainment with the exception of the faith messages they were promoting.

Stunning. Very unexpected, delightful experience. The use of technology flowed/integrated effortlessly with the dancers. The dancers were superb athletes who made the show look so easy, but they really should be commended for the work that they performed and the ease with which the audience receives their efforts. Candy for the eyes.

This show was way over hyped in the ads. It was average at best and I found it repetitive and boring at times. The narrators (english and chinese) were annoying and disruptive. Maybe it's a $30 show but definitely not a $100 one!

The dancers of the Shen Yun show are quite talented in their flexibility, but my anticipation of the show (based off of celebrity praises and review) was higher than the performance itself. I appreciated the costumes, especially the women's dresses. Sometimes I was slightly lost by the storyline...I'd recommend brushing up on some Chinese history to ensure a fuller understanding, and by extension a fuller appreciation, for the storylines. I think that perhaps more airborne tricks would've amused me more. All in all, the dancers are talented--the host and hostess are amusing, the band is good, and the screenplay encouraged my imagination. The show was acceptable but not as good as some other live shows i've seen.

We bought tickets for our entire family of 7 plus our foreign exchange student. We thought we would see a stage show "exploring 5000 years of Chinese Culture". What we got was some very athletic and authentic Chinese dance with pretty costumes good for about 2 acts. We also endured 2 AWFUL soloists, mediocre music, and primitive production/ technology. Truly the best and most technologically advanced part of the show is the advertising.
Worst of all was the totally unexpected, unadvertised political/ religious message that made our foreign exchange student cry. After much digging on the Internet, after the show, I finally found "real" reviews that note that this show is a fundraiser for a fringe religious group. And while I truly believe in freedom of religion, I don't think a religious/ political fundraiser should masquerade as an authentic cultural experience.
From our point of view, this was a full bait and switch. The show did not match the advertising at all, and we were taken for nearly $1000 in tickets. Do not be misled into thinking this is a good theatre/ cultural experience!

The performance was neat at first, but you can tell the actors were getting tired by the end. It would have been nice if there were more explanations, children in the audience most likely do not understand what dafa or fa is. Many of the acts were very similar, I went in to learn about 5000 years of history and came out with no new knowledge, but the dancing, singing, and dresses were quite nice. Also, the lady next to me ate a meal (loudly) through the entire first half, talked constantly to herself, and smelled awful. This is not a reflection of the show, just the individual next to me, is there any common courtesy anymore?

My two sisters, my aunt and I went to the Mother's Day show and wished we hadn't! Although the dance and costumes were great, the show dragged and the Chinese and American emcees made it drag on even longer. We expected the show to be all about dance, but there were three opera singers that were highlighted. If we'd known the show included opera, we would not have purchased the tickets.
If the emcees and the opera singers were not part of the show, we may have enjoyed it.

Shen Yun is an absolutely amazing experience. Although they repeatedly said that it was strictly ancient Chinese dancing, much of what they did appeared to be gymnastics or acrobatics, and it was fantastic. The costumes are beautiful and the interaction with the backdrop is unexpected and fun. Definitely a treat for the family.

What a wonderful homage to a magnificent civilization! The dances were based on authentic Chinese traditions and legends. Beautiful costuming, precise choreography, the Shen Yun troupe was a delight to watch.
The ancient mysticism is very much part of the ancient Chinese culture. And yes, Falun Dafa is part of the culture too. Is it a propaganda piece? In some sense, but no more than the Hilton is pushing Mormonism when it provides the Bible and the Book of Mormon in every guest room. The anti-Communist skits are toned down compared to reality...
This program is worth seeing regardless of your religious views.

They are so graceful they almost float sometimes and some of them are very acobatic too. I liked the introduction being in Chinese and English. The stories were interesting. It was so beautiful I almost cried.

Overall there were some good dance sequences and silly animations, but technology was poor and dated. Definitely was not worth $80 per ticket.

The singers and dancers performed their routines proficiently, but there was nothing noteworthy about the show. Two hours worth of 5-minute dance numbers(and three singing numbers) that had no build-up, no narrative, no flow. Nothing cultural or historical in this presentation, and no "WOW" moments whatsoever. Great costumes, obviously well-trained dancers and some interesting facets to the presentation (like the videoscreen backdrop). But....it was just meh, and I was bored halfway through. Glad I went because I'd been curious about it for a while, but definitely wouldn't go again, especially at the price of a decent pair of tickets.
Biggest Positives: Pretty costumes and one five-minute fairly funny skit.
Biggest Negatives: Pretty preachy about the religion, and whole thing resembles what I could only describe as a dance version of an old-time television variety show.

This was an amazing show. The dancing was absolutely superb, the costumes were beautiful, and the live music was top-notch. I'd absolutely go and see this troupe again in future. Even for people who aren't previously disposed to dance performance, this is an exciting and approachable spectacle.

The program was beautiful in colorful costumes and perfomers and background graphic images as well as story lines.. The main problem we saw was that all the dances, after awhile, seem same and alike with the result of monotunous. One fourth of the row behind us didn't return after the intermission...
The singers had beautiful and talented voices..... but they sang all the songs in Chinese and even they sounded monotunous too.... The musicians were excellent...
As for the beautiful woman and handsome male mcs, while they were informative and colorful, they spoke too much and dragged the monotony even longer.....
