I have to say that this year's show was the weakest production I have ever seen from Stars On Ice. Aside from Dorothy Hamill and this being Kurt Browning's Farewell Tour, this show was nothing to write home about. I have been going to see Stars on Ice annually for numerous years, and this year's show lacked a cohesive theme, interesting lighting and effects, had poor music choices for routines, unimpressive costumes, and weak choreography. It also lacked some serious figure skating headliners, had two ice dancing couples, and did not include a pairs couple! I suppose that's what happens when Smucker's drops their sponsorship, as this year's event was simply "Stars on Ice," not sponsored by the big name companies of past years...Smuckers, Target, etc. It was sad to see the skimpy, flimsy programs they sold for $15 each, and the weak selection of show souvenirs. I guess they chose not to put much effort into the event this year, especially since there were only 6 shows in the entire tour. I may be rethinking my decision to purchase tickets next year. 2014 will be an olympic year, so I'm not sure who will be available to skate the tour. As a former figure skater myself, I expected and hoped for so much more given my past experiences at this event. I was pretty disappointed overall. ;-(
