I guess I went to see the Dirty Projects at the Wiltern on Saturday. You wouldn't know it, though -- the stage and lighting were so boring that it could have been my living room. Three boring linen panels clipped to frames backed the band, and the lighting ranged from beige to drab.
The band was okay, the highlight was the harmonies of the girl backup singers. I'm not a huge fan of their music so I can't really name anything they played.
I should disclose that I saw Kaskade at Staples Center on Friday and anything after that spectacle would probably pale in comparison. But regardless, in a summer that's included Santigold, Beach House and The XX it was a bit of a letdown to see this bunch.
Quick note: Getting really tired of being turned away from arbitrary VIP sections. When my ticket says General Admission Floor I assume that means that I am admitted to any general part of the floor. Where did I have the chance to upgrade to VIP?
