The show began with Allen Toussaint. He was terrific. He's such a great pianist and it was fun to hear him play and sing. Dr. John was great, too. He had a cool band, including his music director/trombonist Sarah Morrow. Dr. John and Allen Toussaint played a couple of numbers together at the end which was wonderful. A fun gig to experience!

we came from Aberdeen Scotland for this show and met a young man outside who had flown in from Paris France i hope he enjoyed the show as much as we did the venue was great easy to find from our hotel and the music was terrific .I love New York thank you so much

Great show. His voice is just how you want it to sound. It wasn't the Lower 911. Pretty sure it was the Nitetrippers, but I could be wrong.

To renown disciples of Professor Longhair, held court at Town Hall. Dr. John and Allen
Toussaint. Piles of Grammys and awards between them as well as having played on Rock and Pop royalty's records over the past four decades. It was a distinct privilege to see these two living legends play together and to hear the difference in their styles. Dr. John brought us the swamp and the golden splinters with his Gres-Gres magic and Toussaint filled his
consumate playing with waterfalls.Both with massive bodies of work from which to choose,
presented the audience with the wonder that once was in Nola and preserved the magical lineage of New Orleans music. Dr. John has a new band, ,the Nite Trippers with a female band leader, Sarah Morrow who plays the slush-pump. The encore, head to head grand pianos playing with each other was memorable.

Wonderful opportunity to see two musical giants perform at historic Town Hall too bad the sound was muffled. Toussaint and John gave fine performances yet the sound was muted. It was difficult to hear Sarah Morrow, the band leader on trombone or Kevin Turner's guitar. We had orchestra seats just at the edge of the balcony overhang. The imbalance seemed to subdue the performance. I've been to other concerts at Town Hall and do not remember any problems with the acoustics.

A concert of classic New Orleans music. Dr. John is Dr. John, a unique musical lgegend. The surprise was Allen Toussaint. He;s more famous as a wroter, producer and arranger of classic songs. But he is also a fantastic piano player. He did medleys of his songs, music of different types and even a bar or two of classical music, all seamlessly blended effortlessly!

Great, fantastic, but maybe to short (i'm a big fan..) . The service and help gived by the Town hall people was perfect, they were very nice ! . And Ticket master's way to receive the tickets was great. Thanks a lot !

We could not hear Dr. John -- either his vocals or keyboards -- or any of the other band members except the drummer, because the sound mix was so unbalanced, the drums drowned out everything else. This was true throughout the show, from start to finish, except for a couple of rare and brief moments when Dr. John or the other players solo'ed.
Our party of five at the concert (including three accomplished musicians) all agreed about the very poor audio engineering.
So frustrating! What a shame. I don't think it's a matter of poor acoustics at Town Hall, as we've heard other musicians there, such as Neil Finn some years ago, who sounded great.

Accoustics were just ok, seemed like mic levels were not consistent. Band didn't seem to be in the groove.

Let me preface by saying that I have always loved Dr. John and music from New Orleans, a place where I have spent A LOT of time, and I have seen him many times before. That said, this show was a bitter disappointment. The band he was playing with was terrible, the female vocalist and trombone player was particularly talentless... and NO ONE on stage appeared to be enjoying themselves at all. I was so saddened by the evening's events that when I got home I started googling around to see what I could learn and low and behold the very young blond vocalist is his new girlfriend, new music director, and had just fired his entire band - some of whom had been playing with him on and off for years!
On a brighter note - Allen Toussaint was spectacular, he only gets better with age.

The fabulous, incredibly unique Dr. John is in top form with his new band as they blast through classic show-pieces and new hits-in-the-making with casual brilliance and gritty, home-grown artistry. The Nite Tripper sounds the best he has in years, complemented by an excellent backing band, including thumping bass, a drummer who's as comfortably swinging as he is technically accomplished, a talented keyboard player who holds his own in tandem with the Doc himself, a groovy trombone player and a tremendous guitarist whose licks are colorfully groovy, tastefully smooth and technically impressive all at once. They're a tight band who know how to put on a show.

I love a concert that starts on time and Alan came out on stage at 8:05 which was fantastic. He played his piano and his music is superb. Dr. John followed at 9:00 and played non-stop with thegroup/ It was fantastic. After leaving the stage Dr. John came back with Alan and they played for another set. I love the New Orleans R&B sound and these two men are the epitome of this great sound. Would love to see this night turned into a CD.

Dr. John made a great appearance in New York's Town Hall, with a new and energetic band, definitely growing into the concert, gaining intensity and pleasure. Many classics, and played his all-times best 'Such a night' as a duet with the ever-elegant Allan Touissant.

The show was great, but the venue disappointing. The acoustics echoed and were not sharp. Don't know if it is the theater design or the sound engineer. Not sure I would go to see a concert here again.

Dr.John and the Lower 911 along with the BBoA put on a great shjow Thursday night at an excellent Vue at CSUN new Preforming Arts Theater. The sound was exception, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. All of the preformers are Grammy winners several times over, and it showed in their preformance this night. I would highly recommend this show to anyone who loves R&B, Gospel, and Bues. Dr. John was his usual entertaining self and the BBoA are living legions of Gospel music.

The show was unbelievably good. Dr. John's choice of music was so entertaining, the Blind Boys were as always fabulously good and the trombone player was out of this world. Yep, a fabulous trombone player. Where do you see that? (Plus she had this unforgettable smile and personality) Go see this show if you have to drive 500 miles to get there.
